Perez Fighting With Fan in Oakland

Unread postby skatingtripods » Mon Aug 20, 2012 10:18 am

On the bright side, this is the most fight that an Indians player has shown in weeks.

http://deadspin.com/5936167/indians-clo ... your-mouth

Video has NSFW language. Well, whole thing is NSFW. But, whatever.

On one hand, fan is a total douche bag who provoked him. On another hand, just Chris being Chris.

If this had been in the heat of the moment as a fan said something right next to the bullpen, I'd have a little more sympathy for Perez. But he walked all the way over there to engage the guy. In this day and age where everyone has a video camera in their pocket, you have to avoid that stuff the best you can. The fan was a jerk obviously but I don't think Perez is too bright.

Straight out of Eastbound & Down, except Kenny Powers woulda punched the fan. Which I was kinda rooting for Perez to do, woulda been the most exciting thing to happen to a Cleveland team in a while.

Hate everything about this to be honest.

Perez comes off like a selfish douche whenever he opens his mouth. Can we just get rid of this guy. Hell blow the whole damn thing up.
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. Thanks for representing Cleveland well again Chris. Hard to imagine that his mouth got bogger than his gut. On the other hand, did anyone else find it hilarious when the camera douche said "give me a hi five they gave each other hi fives" at the end? He sounded pathetic... And hilarious.

That fan was obviously being a douche trying to get under a player's skin. That said, Perez was an even bigger douche for giving him exactly what he wanted. Not too bright on his part.

I loved how Perez immediately went to how many all-star appearances he's had, and better yet, his salary. Not a strategy players should emulate if they want to come across well when bickering with dumbass fans who are obviously trolling for a fight.

How great would it have been if Pestano or someone walked by and said "hit 'im with your wallet Chris!"

Now Perez is saying this same fan has ragged on him for years, and he's even switched his warm-up spots to avoid the guy, who still goes out of his way to find him. I guess that helps to explain why Perez was so eager to unload on the guy, not that it makes it right.

This guy sure makes it his mission to screw with him, though. Kind of funny. Once someone like this knows they've gotten under your skin, they just dial it up more.

For years a lot of people were tired of the team with no fire and attitude. Well, we've got a closer with a lot of both, and some talent.

Don't care that he unloaded on a prick who needed unloading on. He didn't hit the guy, didn't threaten the guy, he just let him know that he was being a douche-bag. Did he bite on the prick's bating, sure he did. If what Perez says is true and this guy's been a prick for years, then eventually it's gonna come to a head, especially after the wheels came off the season like it has. It's gotta suck for these guys. It's gotta be frustrating. Sometimes it's hard to walk away, we've all been there, especially when you're under pressure. You've got some young asshole who thinks he's smarter than you are being a dick, trying to get your blood pressure up. If he said idiotic things like this to a non baseball player in a bar or on the street, he'd get his ass kicked.

Should Perez have walked away. Yes. I'm glad he didn't.

I have never understood heckling ball-players. If you want to be an asshole, stay home and yell at the TV. If you've got your young son to a game where some dickhead thinks its funny to throw insults at players all game, it's no fun at all. I'm not a prude, but there's no place a ball game for heckling douche-bags. You aren't funny, you aren't smarter than they are, they are better athletes and make more money than you probably ever will. Knock it off.
Don't go away mad, just go away.

Never claimed the guy wasn't an asshole. The world is full of em'. Christ, take a look to your left and right and there's a good chance you spot one.

But you know how many major league players get heckled?

About 750. And then more when the rosters expand.

Learning to ignore douchebags is about rule number one for a professional athlete with half a brain.

Chris Perez is a punk and an idiot and from a far comes off an aweful lot like a guy with a drinking problem. His trade value will NEVER be higher.

Unload him. He's another John Rocker waiting to happen.

Agree. Get rid of Perez. Not because of anything he said, because I truly don't give a shit. Get rid of him because he will never be more valuable than he is now.

Sell high.

At the same time, I could care less what he said to the guy. But he is a fucking moron for apparently not comprehending that he was going to look like an asshole. Yet again.

As far as the fan goes, I will never really understand a grown man heckling like that. And saying terrible and mean things to another human being.
