Lou Marson has handled the bat pretty well for a catcher and his defense is very good while Santana has struggled at the plate most of the season. Maybe they're thinking if Santana plays left field he can concentrate on hitting and his offensive numbers would improve while filling that black hole in left.Otherwise, why put him out there? The Indians were down 12-1, why not just take him out of the game?
