A little starch got taken out of tonight without TR healthy, but certainly anxious to see some other pieces in live action.

My one wish

Please Weeden don't suck

Per official Browns Twitter, sounds like another concussion for Massaquoi.

Mo Mass looked like he got whacked pretty good on the first play....figures.

Dimitri Patterson might want to hold Calvin Johnson on every play. I'd say only 15% of them get called by these scab refs and he's getting worked otherwise.

They don't look ready for prime time. I know it's early yet but they can't run or stop the run. You can't win not being able to do those two things. Rinse lather repeat. What did Greco do to get in the dog house? When he saw limited duty last year, they were able to run on the right side with him at guard.

You're definitely right, that did not look like a typical head injury play. Hope he got a degree in college.

Weeden's arm isn't looking like I would have hoped right now.

If he has to take his lumps for the next 3 weeks though I'm fine with that, just apply it down the road.

Weeden also had zero time to stand in the pocket. Lions front four mauled our OL.

Little wobble on that throw from Colt, but accuracy-wise, it was where it needed to be.

Run defense...ugly. Teams are going to pound the ball on the Browns all year.

Disappointed in first team o-line, Weeden didn't have much time to throw.

Travis Benjamin will be fun to watch this year.

My first half thoughts:

Weeden looked like a rookie: This is neither a positive or negative review, this is calling it down the middle.

O-Line: Not impressed.

Defense: Might have to load up on blood pressure medication.

Mo Mass: I honestly think there's a good chance Mo Mass never sees the field again. If he's that prone to concussions, modern groupthink will force him into retirement.x

McCoy: Trying too hard, as usual.

Shurmur: I'm holding steady with my over/under on him being fired at Week 13. The "Coaching is HARD!!" look on his face still is firmly in place.

I thought I smelled something.

Anything that happens in this half is meaningless. Haslem can NOT be happy with what he sees. Especially once he realizes things won't improve that much once the real season starts.

Very few positives to take away from this game. Benjamin and Cameron had nice catches. Weeden had a couple of good throws but did not impress. Starting o-line sucks. Starting defense sucks. Punter looks good though.

I was putting my kid to bed, otherwise I would have pointed this out at the time:

Can ANYONE explain why we sent out a BACKUP kicker in a MEANINGLESS preseason game to kick a 47-yard field goal instead of, you know, evaluating talent on a fourth down situation?

Oh right, Pat Shurmur is the head coach.

nevermind.

I'm picturing this phone call in my head right now:

Saturday Morning, Haslem Residence:
Mr. Haslem picks up his cell phone, dials a number.
"Hello!! Mr. Kraft!! Yeah, was that first preseason game by my new team something I should be concerned about? It is? Shit. Yeah, I thought so, too, but I really didn't want to overreact. I should probably think about cleaning house sooner rather than later, right?

"Yep, I noticed the constipated look on Coach Shurmur's face the whole game as well. You're saying that's a bad thing. Okay, just wanted to make sure we're on the same page.

Okay, Let me give Mr. Rooney a call just to get another voice in the conversation."

Calls Mr. Rooney

"Hi Mr. Rooney! What . . . yeah. You knew I was going to call. Yeah. Yep. Uh-huh. Yeah, that's what Mr. Kraft said. I agree my head coach shouldn't look like he's about to wet his pants. I'll have to wait to do something about that. Yeah, there's nobody out there right now. We'll have to wait until the season is under way to make it look like we gave him a chance.

Yes, I already had written this season off, that was the understood risk of buying a team owned by a man nicknamed "Jammies" for the last decade.

Got a lot of thinking to do, thanks for your input.

Smelley knew where the endzone was.

Actually got open, caught it , didn't step out of bounds, get penalized, fumble or get injured.

Oneil Cousins is fucking awful.

Weeden looks uncomfortable from under center. Lots of passes off the back foot, rarely got set and threw through the ball especially on 3 step drops. Gonna be an issue with timing.

I hope TR is healthy and awesome because the rest of them looked sub-pedestrian.

Gordon was also bad, but Benjamin was not. Huzzah.
