Problem Solved! Radinsky "Dismissed"

Unread postby skatingtripods » Thu Aug 09, 2012 3:12 pm

Awesome. Now all of that talent is going to come to the forefront.

Why didn't we hire Luis Isaac instead?

Oh, yeah, Ruben Niebla interim pitching coach.

Typical "illusion of change by firing someone" move.

I said when Belcher stepped down that it was a big problem. He was the MVP last year.

Yup, that was the problem. Not lack of talent.

I kind of agree, Masterson et al have been on a downbound train since Scott became the coach. He couldn't fix Ubad-o's long ass delivery. Perez has imploded.

The only bright spot has been Vinnie.

Hopefully this is just the first of several firings. Hopefully Shapiro's next.

Good Holy Christ are we gonna have this discussion again.

So he's good with Vinnie....and Perez....until a month ago and now Perez isn't quite following him.....and he couldn't put six MPH back on Jiminez.....or give Tomlin major league stuff......ayeayeayeyaye.

Good pitchers pitch well. Anywhere. Under anyone.

Bad pitchers pitch poorly. Anywhere. Under anyone.

The greatest pitching coach of our time was Leo Mazzone.....until he went to Baltimore and got hit in the balls with guys who couldn't pitch.

Not sure how much proof one needs to see year in and year out.

Sounding boards. That's what a major league coach is. A friggin' sounding board.

And Sandy Alomar will take this team over and they'll still blow until they get PLAYAS. The same Sandy that's on a two year run with his protege.....

Fucking Radinsky. He should have never signed Sizemore and that cast of strokes in the off-season. I'm so glad he's being taken to task for that.

Just more fuel to the fire. Dolan seems to enjoy poking the fans in the eye. Has anyone asked Perez yet if he is starting to understand?

If this would solve the problem it would have done it before now. I will argue that pitching coaches can have an influence but you do have to have something to start with. A good coach is able to watch tapes and with experience be able to pick out where perhaps a pitcher has changed something which leads to problems on the mound.

Maybe Radinsky sucks, but you'll never be able to prove it with all the holes on the team.

I don't have a problem with going to a discussion board when something happens- and discussing.

I was concerned about Belcher leaving too, Andrew.

Point taken on needing players- everyone does, and did, and will.

Just because you can't quantify a reason for success doesn't mean it can't exist.

Although, there is the low walks total by Columbus, as reported in the Wire by Burke. Let's see if the walk total decreases.

I don't profess to know what really goes on in a locker room, behind closed doors, or what goes into making a decision to let a coach go. Maybe hiring Radinsky was not to Acta's liking for all we know. But a number of pitchers did regress this year....Masterson, Tomlin, Gomez, Sipp, and as far as we know, all are healthy. Unless we are in the inner circles, we will never know the truth, but I am guessing that he was not let go for no reason at all.

Shapiro cannot be fired. Who else is going to line Larry's pockets?

Given the results last night, this clearly worked. Next step is to fire the doctors so that the players don't get injured.
