And they've got a great chance of getting it with Scott Diamond on the hill for the Twins. Not only is he left-handed, he can actually pitch a little.

Last time out the Tribe scraped together 3 hits off him in 9 innings. Tonight I'm going out on a limb and predicting they double that total. Yeah, damn it, you heard me, DOUBLE THAT TOTAL!!!

I'm not going so far as to predict they score a run, though. Gotta be realistic.

Keep moving up that draft board, fellas.

Lineups? What difference does it make?

His ERA in two starts against the Indians this year is 0.00. That will certainly change today, as we have both Shelly D. and Jose Lopez in the lineup.

My God. 53 more games of this. Blowout after blowout, with most games over by the 5th inning if not sooner. What a joke of a team.

The announcers are right about McAlister. One error behind him and he caves, every time.

He needs something besides a fastball and a "show me" slider if he's going to pitch as this level.

His first ten starts were good, but now I'm wondering if he's another Tomlin and Sowers - just a guy who got off to a promising start until the league figured out how to hit him.

It's time to go for one more record tomorrow, lowest attendance for a game at the Jake. The current mark is 8726 on 4/3/11. I think a message needs to be sent to the players and ownership. This shit is embarrassing. I have followed the Tribe loyally for almost 50 years. I can't take much more....

The most amazing thing is that a couple of weeks ago we were actually debating whether the Tribe should be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline.

By the way, I'm sticking to my prediction that the Indians will double their hit total against Diamond. One more to go and five innings to get it.

The Indians should refund the tickets of every fan who showed up tonight. This is inexcusable.

Serious question. Why do you like Acta? Is it his 7 for 7 in losing seasons? Or how patiently he sits in the dugout as his life flies by? What is it about him that is so special that we need to hold onto him? I agree it is mostly Shaponetti's fault, but my goodness, what has Acta done to earn any praise?

Look, I'm no Acta fan, primarily because, as I've mentioned before, I really don't think he matters....but, firing that friggin' guy, who is saddled with a starting staff that completed a long road trip with an ERA over 12, and running 4 minor leaguers out there every day....Not sure who the hell you want to sit in that dugout and lean on the railing for 4 hours, but he better have some magic F'ing dust.

Firing (and for that matter hiring) a new manager is useless. USELESS in regard to helping the team win.

Strategy....change of culture....new voice.... - all horsehit. Playas are all that matters.

Carry on trying to overanalyze this thing. They are losing cause they've got MANY PLAYERS WHO SUCK. With little help in sight. And they've made some HUGE mistakes in that front office.

Bad players + bad front office = bad team.

Manager isn't even in the equation.

I'm with you. Shapiro and Antonetti are the ones to blame for the crappy product on the field. They're the ones bringing in the players. Acta is the one who has to live with them, a collection of AAA (and AAAA) stiffs. The fact that he wrung a first-place start (and at least a contention until the trading deadline) out of this garbage should say something. I'm no data expert, and I wouldn't even know what kind of data to analyze and compare, but I don't think Acta is to blame, nor do I think he's a bad manager. Like any manager, he's a reflection of the talent on the field. Win, and he's a genius. Lose, and he's not.

Other than his too-laid-back attitude with umpires when we get shitty calls, I really have no problem with the guy. He's willing to embrace new strategies and techniques (sabermetrics blah blah), he's intelligent and well-spoken (particularly impressive when you take into account he didn't know a lick of English till he came to America to play ball), and he treats his players with respect. They seem to respect him, too. Wedgie lost the team well before he was canned. His "put your head down and run hard to first base" style and constant feuding and inability to get along with certain players wore thin fast, on the fans and the team. They didnt play for him. I don't see that with Acta. Of course, none of us are in the clubhouse to really see, so who knows for sure.

Like I said, other than his lack of "fireyness," I don't think he's a problem. He's never had a GOOD team to see what he can really do with it. That he's been able to do anything with these jack-offs should say something.

If you want to send a message, start with upstairs. They're the real problem. Unfortunately, I doubt they fire themselves.

I'm not sure what some of you expect Acta to do. Bench Hannahan, or Hafner? For who? Brent Lillibridge? Shelly Duncan? Jose Lopez? Should we throw Jeanmar Gomez instead of McAllister? No amount of awesome managing is going to suddenly make our big deadline acquisition not suck. The fact that Acta had this team in contention for half a season should be enough to qualify him for the GD manager of the year award. This roster is one big giant collection of failure. That's on Antonetti, Shapiro, and Dolan.

And what does it say about Jason Donald and Matt LaPorta that they're not even good enough to make THIS team? How much must they suck? Well, the major league team may suck, but at least the farm isn't going to produce anyone.

I dunno, maybe the fact that he's had this horrible collection of talent in contention for 2 straight years. This team should have been near the bottom of the worst division in baseball since the beginning of the season. They only had 1 reliable starting pitcher before Opening Day (Masterson) and he's been shit.

As others have said before, how can you blame a manager for using the tools he's given, when those tools are Aaron Cunningham, Johnny Damon, Shelly Duncan....

This team needs blown up FOR REAL. Get rid of everybody for prospects, including Santana, Masterson, Kipnis, Cabrera. None of those guys are gonna be here if/when the Indians are good. Stop half-assing contention; play in the cellar for 2-3 years, get the top pick in the draft 2 years in a row and hope you get 1 Strasburg/Harper type.

Pretty sad when this is the only business model (other than having a billion dollars) that works. Baseball is fucking depressing and I'm finally over it. The Have's rule the Have Not's and this will never change.

McAlister will get 10-11 more starts this year. We'll find out if he can pitch in the bigs or if they've figured him out. One thing for sure - he needs to develop the ability to bear down and get out of jams after his defense makes an error. He's given up a ridiculous 18 unearned runs this year, all because he falls apart like a cheap suit after an error.

When you are in contention in May, that is not contending. Look, I agree. Acta is the least culpable amongst he and Shapanetti and Dolan. But what are we holding on for? His deal ends with an option. Are you scared that we will let him go, and he will turn into Bobby Cox elsewhere? You want to sign him to an extension? Managers get fired. That's what they do. Fire him. Who cares. He certainly is not irreplaceable.
