Tiny sample sizes, but at this point all you can do is look for some green shoots.

I'm not saying these guys will have decent careers, but I could see them both in Cleveland next year. I'm pretty sure both will represent upgrades over Damon and Wheeler. That's assuming we don't sign another Wheeler or Durbin and send Allen back down for more seasoning.

Zeke was up last year and didn't show much. I don't know if he's a better player now or is just on a Duncanesque hot streak.

They're not even mutually exclusive. That's what pisses me off. Someone should tell the front office here that there are elite players and really good players who play the game the right way and are good teammates.

Having one guy in the clubhouse with that kinda cred is fine if he's overseeing a lockerroom of talented guys who need that presence.

Having a locker room full of those guys with presence around one or two talented players is a goddamn recipe for shit stew.

I don't think a team full of Belle's would actually do all that well. Think about those teams. You had one guy that everyone had to walk on eggshells around, especially after he did poorly in Belle. To counter that, you had some mellow guys like Thome and Sorrento, a clueless guy in Manny, some prankster types in Omar and Baerga. Those teams had the perfect mix of elite talent and personalities. Heavy emphasis on elite talent.

What we saw in those days was very, very special and very, very unique. A team full of high maintenance asshole types would implode at some point, IMHO.
