8/5/12 Tribe going for 9 straight

Unread postby Prosecutor » Sun Aug 05, 2012 3:17 pm

6th inning, tied 4-4. Tribe actually had a lead at one point.

Zeke Cabrera is 6-for-10 since being called up. Cody Allen has retired 24 batters while allowing one hit.

Tiny sample sizes, but at this point all you can do is look for some green shoots.

I'm not saying these guys will have decent careers, but I could see them both in Cleveland next year. I'm pretty sure both will represent upgrades over Damon and Wheeler. That's assuming we don't sign another Wheeler or Durbin and send Allen back down for more seasoning.

Zeke was up last year and didn't show much. I don't know if he's a better player now or is just on a Duncanesque hot streak.

Carrera is 6-for-10 with 3Ks!

So, 6-for-7 when putting the ball in play.... sustainable!

Another pitching change? Manny must really want this one...he is playing it like it is the seventh game of the World Series.

Manny doesn't want to be the first manager in Indians history to go 0-9 on a road trip.

Joe Smith is blowing it. But you can't be too hard on him - he threw a pitch six inches from Miggy's knee and he still yanked it into left field.

Amost two more months of this. ::doh::

ZEKE SMASH!!!

As long as this kid keeps hitting .583 he can stay in the lineup.

Wonder why they waited so long to dump Damon.

I've been listening to this slop since the start and kept hoping they'd keep the lead. Still hoping here in extra innings! Perez better pitch like his life depends on it.

Because playing Damon in LF is the same as sucking.

But playing Zeke in LF is admitting that you suck and declaring that you've given up trying.

17 hits. They really needed that. But it's too little too late.

Nothing to do now except audition Zeke and Kluber and Allen for next year. And see if Hernandez has anything left, which I seriously doubt.

Two out, nobody on, and the #8 and #9 hitters due up. So he walks both of them and blows the game.

Miggy mercifully ends it.

What stings worse? Perez giving up that homer and runs prior or last year Fukudome getting gunned at the plate and Valverde doing that ape dance?

Both were in Comerica. Both were bad. At least we were in the race this time last year...hard to fathom, but we were.

Thank you Tribe for providing a good laugh on a miserable Sunday. This was right up there w/ the Browns losing to Detroit in the last minute a few yrs ago. Miggy blowing one out just saved them from furthur embarrassment if they had to scramble for more relief pitching.

At least Perez softened the Twitter blow by asking for it. I'm sure it'd been 10x worse if had said nothing.

24 minutes but who's counting. Seemed like his first priority other than shampooing and conditioning was to hop on and keep the negative tweets to a minimum. Hopefully he apologized to his teammates but by their body language this last week and a half, they could care less.

What else is there to do while eating the post-game spread? Talk baseball with your team-mates? C'mon!

Why is Kotchman still on the team? I figured that he'd have hit the waiver wire pretty much after Damon did. What's the point in keeping him?

So Hannahan is more comfortable knowing there's another guy on the field as shitty as he is?

Safety in numbers. Nice to look directly across the diamond and see a mirror image. Like Miggy and Prince see mirror images in fat guys that can mash, the Indians have mirror images that bring much needed defense to the corner positions and hit .230

Yay...they're great guys and Jack's wife had a baby and the guys chipped in to get him home to see the kid. That's what it's all about!!!

Fuck both those toads.

Keep rooting for the good stories like that. I'll take Miggy and the scotch bottles falling out of his car when he opens the door.

I'll take ANYTHING over the fail that is Hannahan and Kotchman. And Shelley Duncan and Aaron Cunningham and Zeke Carrera and sideways 8....

Galley Boys are slop on top of a so-so burger and a bun you coulde get from a Covneninet food mart generic pack. They the Antoine Joubert of burgers; soft, sloppy, oozing grease and cheap sauce and extremely overrated by a biased fan base. Proof that if you throw enough cheap sauce shit on a burger you still can't overcome the lame burger. -JB

They're not even mutually exclusive. That's what pisses me off. Someone should tell the front office here that there are elite players and really good players who play the game the right way and are good teammates.

Having one guy in the clubhouse with that kinda cred is fine if he's overseeing a lockerroom of talented guys who need that presence.

Having a locker room full of those guys with presence around one or two talented players is a goddamn recipe for shit stew.

^ gimme a team full of Albert Belle's b/c at least I know my team's gonna compete day in and day out. At least I know it would have legit big league talent. Sure it'd be full of asshole's but they'd be our asshole's.

This meltdown of a loss even made the WSJ... the Tribe had a 99.5% chance of winning the game, with 2 outs in the 9th.

This team is bad almost beyond the bounds of rational thought.

I don't think a team full of Belle's would actually do all that well. Think about those teams. You had one guy that everyone had to walk on eggshells around, especially after he did poorly in Belle. To counter that, you had some mellow guys like Thome and Sorrento, a clueless guy in Manny, some prankster types in Omar and Baerga. Those teams had the perfect mix of elite talent and personalities. Heavy emphasis on elite talent.

What we saw in those days was very, very special and very, very unique. A team full of high maintenance asshole types would implode at some point, IMHO.
