http://www.sltrib.com/sltrib/blogsjazzn ... e.html.cspI don't get it. Seems like a waste of money. I'm assuming this is to keep the Cavs off of the cap floor (which I think exists but bow to pretty much everyone else on specifics) and he was one of only ones willing to take a short term contract they could dump whenever they're ready to spend real money on another wing player.
But he does not seem to have any real value over pretty much anyone else in the NBA at the position.

No cap floor yet and the amnestied Baron counts toward it.
Miles has some talent and is young, not a terrible grab as a bench player at all. The biggest problem is that Gee is also best served coming off the bench.

I think this is in case (or because) they can't sign Gee. The move itself is fine. He's an OK player at a position of need.

I think what's going to happen here is they are going to go seriously 'platoon' here and just play the hot hand. Miles and Gee (especially since the Cavs crack front office can't seem to get Gee signed) will probably split the minutes.
And granted Harrison Barnes is no savior but he'd sure be able to solidify the SF position for the next couple years.
That's ok though.....we got our sixth man all wrapped up in Waiters.....
* sigh *
