Seriously, they started showing Baseball in this country in '97, although I didn't start watching really until around '99. As a student, it was late night TV viewing. At that point it was only really ESPNs Sunday and Wednesday night games that were shown and I guess the Tribe were on a lot at that time.

Really, the DP combo of Alomar-Vizquel got me interested in following the Tribe..... casual at first and then, it somehow just developed where by I spend every night from 12am-3am watching the game.

And now?! Well, I'm trapped!

Still not sure why we were starting Choo with a 3-2 count to Droobs in the first - Scherzer is probably 3 times more likely to get a K than a GB, it's a low percentage play right there!

With Carnandez/Hermona starting tomorrow in the minors and the Indians having a day off before Roberto's 3 week suspension is done, he'll be lined up to replace Lowe in the rotation it would seem.

Give a bonus to whichever scout recommended him.

Anyway, I don't want to get too pumped after only two appearances, but I can see why this guy went from A ball to the majors in half a season.

Speaking of young up-and-coming arms, McAlister has put up some very nice numbers lately. Tonight will be a great test for him against this lineup in a game of high importance.

Not to split hairs, but Allen has actually had 3 appearances now, his first being a shelling at the hands of the Orioles last Friday.

Tonight, I cant think of anybody (With a Wahoo on their sleeve) that I'd rather take to go up against Verlander than McAllister. Tribe's sticks have been alive the past few games, so I'm surprisingly optimistic for tonight.

Last night was a shame. Lowe was pitching a solid game and ACab single-handedly blew it on two routine plays--shitty.

I just read that Allen is only the 6th player drafted in the 20th round or later to make it to the majors by the year after he was drafted. That doesn't mean he's going to have a successful career. Maybe it just means he wasn't drafted high enough. But these are the kind of picks the Indians have to make to be competitive. Drafting a Cody Allen. Buying Esmil Rogers for 150K. Trading spare parts and washed up veterans for a Joe Smith or a Chris Perez or a Zach McAlister.

So far Allen has gotten 10 batters out without allowing a run or hit. Yeah, an extremely small sample size. But I'm willing to give the kid a chance, with the knowledge that Matt Barnes had a similar start. I don't recall him throwing a fastball past Miggy Cabrera for strike three, though.
