Happening at 1:30 if I remember correctly. Cant wait to see how this little jewel of an Idea turns out.
Could be a good thing for us on the trade front, we could win a good pick and that could instantly become our most valuable trade chip.

Yeah, results are going to be announced around 3pm I think. The trade wrinkle is an interesting one. Whatever pick we get would of course not be anywhere near as vaulable as Lindor, but with Naquin/Brown unable to be dealt for a full year, it would indeed be a nice commodity to have to add a piece this year.

By my reading of the lottery, there's 14 teams and 12 picks.
So, two teams won't get one.... doesn't that just seem like a dumb idea?

Well, that more than makes up for the vast disparity in payroll and economic markets. Thanks, Bud!!!

In all seriousness, though, that does make for a nice trade chip in the coming weeks. I'm not normally a fan of dealing top prospects, but that pick is nothing but a phantom, nameless prospect at this point. Trade it and we'll never even know who it represented for us. I can live with that.

I'm not sure how big of a trade chip it is really..... there were 95 picks in the first two rounds this year (including the supplemental 1st round) add another 8 picks to that (the additional 6 from Round A and the two in Round B in this Competitive Balance Circus) and that would give us the 103rd pick in the draft.
That doesn't sound like it'd be too valuable to me.

It's akin to a mid-tierprospect. It gives teams an option other than PTBNL when the two sides just don't match up. Rather than haggling over the PTBNL list, if all that's stopping the deal is a mid-tier guy, then the pick will help facilitate the deal.
