FWIW: Kyrie has vehemently denied punching the wall, stating "Not even my character," "I didn't punch the wall...at all," and "freak accident." Do I believe it? No.

Why not? Because, per ESPN: "I am a little disappointed. I have to be more responsible about my health. It was just crazy. It happened so fast."

How he could put out those tweets and be quoted on ESPN saying that, in a four hour span, is beyond me. Hopefully this is as minor a setback as I think it is.

Actually, I'd much better him get an injury that makes him ready for training camp than blowing out a knee in Summer League.

However, dude needs to pay attention to what he is doing a little bit more. We need to remember that sometimes 19-21 year olds do stupid things.....even professional athletes (shocking I know)

I'm sure he just meant either he didn't punch a wall but the padding or he 'slapped' it with the palm of his hand like 99.23% of basketball players have done rather than 'punched' it.

He obviously broke his hand so who cares?

But at least this distracts us from noticing that our team has drafted someone with the 4th overall who can't keep track of timeouts.

Inasmuch as this is a freak injury and none of his prior injuries would seem to have any connections, dude just hasn't been durable for a while now. Too soon to say he's made of glass, but he hasn't gone 6 consecutive weeks in the last 2+ years without hurting himself.

If you look at his game logs from last season.... I think he put in a lot of work, especially considering his short college career. Seemed to me, some of the times they kept him out, it seemed really precautionary.

I don't have any worries when it comes to his durability thus far.

He broke his toe after 8 games at Duke and missed the next few months. He played in only 52 of 66 games last year due to 2 different injuries and an illness. And now he broke his hand doing what anyone and everyone has done at some point in a gym. I know some of the missed time last year was precautionary/tanking, but you can't honestly say that "thus far" his durability hasn't been at least slightly worrisome.

You're probably right. It's just that, when a guy has as much raw talent as Kyrie does, you stick to worrying about Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters
