KG stays in Boston and it somehow is exciting!

3/34. Not a bad deal on any measure and early word is the third year isn't fully guaranteed.

KG is a pretty rich dude!

I just love how it's supposed to teach Sullinger how to be a great player. Everyone else that played with KG who was moderately talented or less and had back concerns, and that KG made great, please step forward.

Get back in line Kendrick Perkins.

Jesus H., that's alotta coin for a man that old. He is still very effective though, I won't deny that. Who will be back among the other 3- Rondo Pierce Allen? Are any of these guys already set for the Celts next year?

To be fair, KG earned those props by making Big Baby and Powe (with no knees) useful.

I don't understand how he did it, but anyone that could get anything useful from Big Freaking Baby earned his mentor stripes.

And Sully is a less athletic Big Baby.

BTW: KG staying means more for Fab Melo than it does Sully. KG will kill Sully the first time he stops playing to tweet, but he'll kill Fab for practicing like he is a piece of shit.

Alright, thanks. And I guess Allen might be back, but the Heat's interested in picking him up per ESPN.

Going further on the Allen note, per ESPN:
The Heat are prepared to offer Allen all they've got: $3 million, for next year.

Allen on the Heat really creates much needed floor space. But that's a $7 million pay cut from last year for Allen, and I'm sure there are teams (including the Celts) that would happily outbid. Basically it's going to come down to which team and what money Allen prefers.

Doesn't Boston also have to pay a couple other FA's they want to keep before offering Allen anything? Granted I know they can offer him the most cheese but retaining Green is going to cut into Allen's pay day some.

I wouldn't doubt Allen is done in Boston for a second (Bradley is that good of a defender/starter). And I also would be shocked if Green got more than $6 in FA.

Rumors starting to intensify that the Pacers are going to let Hibbert walk on the max contract tender he signed with the Blazers.

Which means if Grant isn't on the phone right now making an offer to Batum he's a fucking idiot.

"The Wolves are reportedly Nicolas Batum's "preferred destination," and they are offering him a deal worth approximately $50 million over four years.Batum could meet with the Wolves as soon as Sunday, and if he signs the offer sheet on July 11 it will be interesting to see whether Portland matches. An annual salary of about $12.5 million is a lot for the Blazers to spend on a somewhat disgruntled swingman whose agent has severed communication with the franchise. "

Lee, what kind of return can the Magic get for Howard now? Do you agree that they should just refuse to trade him to Brooklyn and take the best rental offer available? If they do that, the Nets might move on and chew up their cap room and any team looking at Howard as a rental might feel like they have a fighting chance to keep him and improve their offer.

Also, I thought The Decision was the most disgraceful way possible to leave a franchise. Maybe PR wise it still was but as far as basketball goes, I stand corrected. At least LeBron's pre-free agency answer was consistent. That franchise is now in shambles because he was a waffling idiot.

Edit: Didn't know Brooklyn was taking Joe Johnson, now they're officially out of cap room if they take him. I hope the Magic trade him to Charlotte out of spite.

This was my 1st thought when I saw Hibbert was gonna sign the Blazers offer sheet.

Following your next post, it seems like it would take a max offer along the lines of the Hibbert deal, to get Batum. You giving him 4-years, $58 million? I probably would, especially with the Cavs SF situation being pretty dire. I don't think there's a chance in hell Dan Gilbert will.

I'd go 4 for 58 in a second.

Especially because the four year risk window lines up pretty will with the 85 2nd year/rookie deals the team has.

And, frankly, Batum is that good. He's not max good (I mean who really is), but a 4 year near max deal? Child's play.

*although I'm fully expecting him to end up in Minny and make them every more awesome.

Ah well, so Batum is only visiting Minny and Portland.

Good thing Grant tried hard chasing him and/or Chandler.... SMH

Cavs might aswell go after a Brandon Rush type. Still 27 (and will likely only take a 2-3 year deal), shoots over 40% from three and will help Kyrie stop dying inside without Jamo's presence.

Not only did they agree, we also got a great bit from Gordon letting us know that his "heart is in Phoenix". In case you haven't been following, in the past year through his words and actions we've learned that his heart is in Phoenix, his soul is in Indiana, his bleeding vagina is in New Orleans, and his head is in his ass. You're approaching this wrong. You need to make Gordon popular with the people here. Then, regardless of how good or bad a player he is, e0y2e3 will hate him.

You need to brush up on hipster mentality and basics :nanner:

Nice.

How does he restricted FA rules work with sign and trades? If he just signs the one year tender, he's untradable? If he signs long term, they can deal him at will?

I wonder how much they could get out of Phoenix. Not a whole lot of parts there outside of Gortat and Dudley.

The Hornet's are not stupid enough to let him go.

That said, with Danny Ferry saving the Hawks it's good to see his right hand man also making one of the top five SGs in the game love his franchise. Good thing we got the guy that ranked third in the organization as GM.

What happens down the stretch when Mamba is used to handling the ball and the O running through him? How does ownership in PHX sell the fans that getting back first round picks in the high 20's+ is a good thing?

Does the Jason Terry verbal agreement w/ Boston guarantee Allen is bound to sign elsewhere?

The Knicks, now that Nash has gone to LA, have no choice but to sign Lin. They have crap for PG and now they're forced to roll the dice and hope Lin is the real deal(which he's not)

off season is truly getting interesting. Just waiting now for the Howard situation to resolve itself but that's a different thread

Boston is still/additionally trying to keep Green, Allen and Bass.

And I'm just glad Dan Gilbert had his lockout..........

(lead: word is Kobe was the single biggest recruiter of Nash. I have/had the same reservations as you but something tells me he sees being able to play even longer with Nash to chase that scoring title)

You're getting boring with this mostly because it's lazy and damn near lazy at trollable levels.

Because you know the lockout was never gonna keep people outta the major markets. The 6 are the 6 and always will be. It's just going to pay guys like Gilbert more money to draft and raise these whores who flee to the coasts.

Stop playing like it ain't.

Phoenix struck a deal with Goran Dragic, 4 years and over 30 mill. They agreed to terms with Mike Beasley also, but I didn't think that was worth a stand alone post.

So...did Houston sign a PG, or are they about to? Are they going to match the Suns offer for Dragic? Otherwise, I have no idea what they're going to do at PG.

And if Lin is their answer...well, that's a pretty big risk.

Yep, dude just gave up one of the best conracts in the league (one Danny Ferry wrote) for little to no return.

Good thing he let Simmons give him head that one time, otherwise peeps would realize what a shitty GM he is.

Probably not. I hear his voice is crap. Somebody may sign him though.

Elton Brand has been amnestied. Cavs can bid. Bid or not? How much?

Nothing. Cavs are rebuilding. They hitched their wagon to TT, gotta play him now.

This. If he's ever going to develop, it's going to be by playing.

Wolves have so many tradeable assets right now its scary. With a swingman rotation of Batum/Roy/Budinger/Webster/Ellington/Wes Johnson, and Barea fully capable of backing up Rubio, Ridnour should be the 1st man to go. I know they liked that 2 PG lineup last year, but there's just no room or need for it anymore.

My question is, is a Ridnour/D-Will/Webster's expiring/Wes Johnson package enough to grab say, a Pau Gasol? The Wolves have been rumored to be interested in pairing up Pau and Rubio. This trade gives the Lakers some much needed talented youth, provides capable backups for both Nash and Kobe, and bolsters their horrific bench. From the Wolves perspective its a bit harder to figure out what their big man rotation would be, what with Love and Pek seemingly entrenched as the starters. But again, there were already talks of them trying to pry Pau, so they must have some sorta idea of what they'd do with him.

I was considering throwing out a fake Dwight for Pek/D-Will/Wes/Webster deal too, but I don't like talking about Dwight anymore. My point is, the Wolves are getting scary and have tons of room to get even scarier.

While I get that, they can't stunt the development of the rest of the team. The personnel decision on whether to make a claim on Brand (or any other PF) should not be decided on TT's presence.

Besides, how long do you have to wait to trade a guy off waivers? Couldn't the Cavs bid a few million on Brand and then move him to a team who wants him and get more assets? The Turk is gone and another big wouldn't hurt. They have an oft-injured Varejao, a major work-in-progress with TT and a rookie in Zeller.

Not necessarily advocating for Brand, but if you could pick him up at a reasonable price and at worst, flip him to someone else for an asset, why not?

I don't believe there are any rules about trading a claimed player. However the only teams that would be interested in trading for him are teams that are over the cap since anyone else would have bid on him.

I don't think they would bid on him if they feel like he's going to be disgruntled playing here either in front of TT or as a role player. Also a decent amount of risk that he is injured because he is Elton Brand during the first half of the season making him untradeable.

Anyway they might bid but pretty sure some team out there will bid significantly more since he is big and is a name that will help draw peeps.
