I just love how it's supposed to teach Sullinger how to be a great player. Everyone else that played with KG who was moderately talented or less and had back concerns, and that KG made great, please step forward.

To be fair, KG earned those props by making Big Baby and Powe (with no knees) useful.

I don't understand how he did it, but anyone that could get anything useful from Big Freaking Baby earned his mentor stripes.

And Sully is a less athletic Big Baby.

(Rondo and Pierce are locked up for next year)

Going further on the Allen note, per ESPN:
The Heat are prepared to offer Allen all they've got: $3 million, for next year.

Allen on the Heat really creates much needed floor space. But that's a $7 million pay cut from last year for Allen, and I'm sure there are teams (including the Celts) that would happily outbid. Basically it's going to come down to which team and what money Allen prefers.

Lee, what kind of return can the Magic get for Howard now? Do you agree that they should just refuse to trade him to Brooklyn and take the best rental offer available? If they do that, the Nets might move on and chew up their cap room and any team looking at Howard as a rental might feel like they have a fighting chance to keep him and improve their offer.

Also, I thought The Decision was the most disgraceful way possible to leave a franchise. Maybe PR wise it still was but as far as basketball goes, I stand corrected. At least LeBron's pre-free agency answer was consistent. That franchise is now in shambles because he was a waffling idiot.

Edit: Didn't know Brooklyn was taking Joe Johnson, now they're officially out of cap room if they take him. I hope the Magic trade him to Charlotte out of spite.

This was my 1st thought when I saw Hibbert was gonna sign the Blazers offer sheet.

Following your next post, it seems like it would take a max offer along the lines of the Hibbert deal, to get Batum. You giving him 4-years, $58 million? I probably would, especially with the Cavs SF situation being pretty dire. I don't think there's a chance in hell Dan Gilbert will.

Especially because the four year risk window lines up pretty will with the 85 2nd year/rookie deals the team has.

And, frankly, Batum is that good. He's not max good (I mean who really is), but a 4 year near max deal? Child's play.

I wonder how much they could get out of Phoenix. Not a whole lot of parts there outside of Gortat and Dudley.

Wolves have so many tradeable assets right now its scary. With a swingman rotation of Batum/Roy/Budinger/Webster/Ellington/Wes Johnson, and Barea fully capable of backing up Rubio, Ridnour should be the 1st man to go. I know they liked that 2 PG lineup last year, but there's just no room or need for it anymore.

My question is, is a Ridnour/D-Will/Webster's expiring/Wes Johnson package enough to grab say, a Pau Gasol? The Wolves have been rumored to be interested in pairing up Pau and Rubio. This trade gives the Lakers some much needed talented youth, provides capable backups for both Nash and Kobe, and bolsters their horrific bench. From the Wolves perspective its a bit harder to figure out what their big man rotation would be, what with Love and Pek seemingly entrenched as the starters. But again, there were already talks of them trying to pry Pau, so they must have some sorta idea of what they'd do with him.

I was considering throwing out a fake Dwight for Pek/D-Will/Wes/Webster deal too, but I don't like talking about Dwight anymore. My point is, the Wolves are getting scary and have tons of room to get even scarier.

While I get that, they can't stunt the development of the rest of the team. The personnel decision on whether to make a claim on Brand (or any other PF) should not be decided on TT's presence.

The Turk is gone and another big wouldn't hurt. They have an oft-injured Varejao, a major work-in-progress with TT and a rookie in Zeller.

Not necessarily advocating for Brand, but if you could pick him up at a reasonable price and at worst, flip him to someone else for an asset, why not?

I don't believe there are any rules about trading a claimed player. However the only teams that would be interested in trading for him are teams that are over the cap since anyone else would have bid on him.

I don't think they would bid on him if they feel like he's going to be disgruntled playing here either in front of TT or as a role player. Also a decent amount of risk that he is injured because he is Elton Brand during the first half of the season making him untradeable.

Anyway they might bid but pretty sure some team out there will bid significantly more since he is big and is a name that will help draw peeps.
