Hell yes, and it's not even close. UEFA Championships are more important than the Olympics. The Olympics is an u-23 tournament with 3 overage players allowed. Your not sending your countries best. IT will get more run this year than others because Brazil has come out and said it wants to do everything to win, the Olympics are in England and there were discussions on how the Great Britain would be assembled. But still, way less important than the World Cup.

Give me a minute while I go start the "Is the Super Bowl more important than the Pro Bowl?" thread.

I read an article where they said the oly's are bigger in the US because they are part of the American culture. From the days when it was amateur.

But I think it's more the people who aren't soccer fans and only watch during the olympics. They're oblivious to anything else going on.

I don't think people are clear on what you're asking. Are you asking whether people world wide care more about the olympics in general than the world cup, or are you speaking solely of olympic soccer vs world cup soccer?

World Cup Soccer is far, far, far more important to teams and countries than olympic soccer is.

Individual opinions. What do each of YOU think?

Wonder if you can look it up by world TV viewership.

My bet is World Cup is bigger all the way around in terms of popularity as well it being clearly more prestigious than Olympic gold for the teams.

For me, I'll watch the summer Olympics specifically for the soccer once medal rounds begin. Love watching the USWNT far more than the men's team though there are fewer quality teams in the women's game.

I love the Olympics and I'll watch every second of that shit that I can. I will try to catch as much of the soccer as I can, but it doesn't really matter what the event is. I like the Olympics itself more than the World Cup.

But, if just talking about soccer itself, I still think it's WC for me.

If I had to pick one EVENT to watch, it's the Olympics.

If I had to pick one SOCCER EVENT it's the World Cup.
