Santana getting a day off.... sore body, sore mind.

With all the hits he's taken off the mask, legs, body it might be time to think about moving him from behind the plate full time.

I get the whole "more value as a catcher" argument but, we still don't have a 1Bman - Kotchman has been poor and is only signed through this year anyway so we're going to have to find a replacement next year in any case.

Why not just commit to Carlos at 1B, play Marson behind the plate. Yeah Lou's not much of a hitter but, he can play defense and probably hit .250 in the #9 hole.

Arbitrary stat point of the night.... last 22 games for Damon (including tonight): -

.300/.373/.517/.890 with 4 2B, 3HR, 12RBI and 2 SB.

If he's that hitter the rest of the way then we might need to lay off him a little...... not sure I believe it - he still looks a fidgety, jumpy mess at the plate!

By inputting that line into the Duncanator, Jhonny Damon will be hitting .323/.380/.560/.890 with 60 2B, 32 HR, 100RBI and 3 SB.

Starting to hate him? Yeah, probably. Continuing my dislike of him? Yes. Think he's a lazy, selfish player. He's pouting about his hitting and letting it affect his defense. Young players need to learn through growing pains, I get that, but his lack of adjustments at the plate is killing this team.

Can give me the SSA if you want, but:

Santana at C (760 PA): .243/.372/.433/.805
Santana at 1B (301 PA): .229/.332/.422/.755
Santana at DH (54 PA): .196/.241/.353/.594

Seems like he has to be engaged on every pitch to have his head in the game.

He's my new Grady Sizemore. A guy who I think could be so much more than he is. In retrospect, I was too hard on Sizemore. Hated his lack of average and K output. But, he was a tremendously good player in his prime.

Santana is what he is. A guy who will walk a lot and run into 20-25 mistakes a year. Besides that, I don't trust him in many situations.

If .500 ball keps you in the division, and somehow the Tribe was able to stay there....In September, a big 9th inning AB, I'd be willing to wager by that time many of us would rather have Damon getting that big at bat over 6 guys regularly in the starting line-up.

He leaves a few too many pitches over the middle of the plate, but the ball's moving well more often than not.

That's probably it for Z-Mac...... you'd like to see more than 5 from him, but I'll take it!

Be interesting to see how he goes this year, this is his first shot "on merit" in the big league rotation..... every other start has been September "cup of coffee", DH start or injury fill in.

This is the time you've gotta take the opportunity and run with it!

We know it's gonna be Smith, Pestano and Perez from the 7th..... the question is who do you trust in the 6th?!

Well, they went with Rogers and it was a nice inning.

Kid's got a good arm - he's a little up-ish for my liking - can't argue with the 11Ks to 0BB in 8.1IP though.

Amazing that Choo homered off a lefty, Damon homered at all, and the Tribe beat a quality lefty. Very wierd stuff going on. Sure needed that win, though.
