So, When Do We Trade For Omar?

Unread postby skatingtripods » Wed Jun 27, 2012 10:19 am

Omar's retiring at the end of the year. Figure he'll retire an Indian, right? Or will it be one of those stupid sign him for a day kind of things?

FWIW, Toronto does not come back to town this season.

http://www.nesn.com/2012/06/omar-vizquel-confirms-plan-to-retire-after-2012-season-hopes-to-become-coach-or-manager.html

Personally, I'd like to see them get him and give him the send-off he deserves from the fans in the final game of the season. Ideally, that game will mean something (v. CWS), so we don't really want him playing it if it does, but he's worthy of a nice, long standing ovation.

Then, we can start talking about him potentially being a Hall of Famer.

Did you guys see the video of Omar dancin' in the rain during the Jays/Red Sux game delay? Priceless!

Im in favor of all 3 if they fall out of contention. I would imagine a lineup the last month or specifically the last week of the season with Omar, Manny, and Thome would draw fans and would increase attendance and revenue that wouldn't be there otherwise if we are out of it.

The sad thing is that all three of them would be clear upgrades at 1B, LF, and Utility Infielder at this point.

But my God do we CTown fans love living in the past or what...

Yeah, but seriously how great would it be to have all 3 play their last ever games back in a Cleveland Uni. Those 3 are part of a huge chunk of a lot of people's baseball childhoods.
