I have such an irrational (or maybe it actually is rational, all things considered) hatred of the Yankees and their pansy-ass pampered fans who cheer everything that team does like it's the freaking World Series. Not trying to turn this into a payroll thing, but with that ridiculous payroll they can field, they should be winning every game. I'd last about three minutes in that place because I'd probably end up in a fight for telling one of those clueless d-bags that.

Nothing useful about a three-run homer when you're down five with two out in the 9th. As hard as it's been for the Tribe to score lately, I hate to see a three-run homer wasted. But I suppose it's better than another pop up.

On the ball Wise dropped the 3rd base umpire was right there, just a few feet away. The only thing I can imagine is that he was screened by a fan and didn't see the ball bounce off Wise's glove. But when Wise didn't have the ball when he got up that should have been a clue that he never caught it. Just a mystifying call.

Not that it mattered.

Tomorrow we face a lefty, and not some guy they dragged out of the minors this time, but a really good lefty. I don't expect them to score.

I have to hand it to the Yankees - they take a lot of pitches that miss the strike zone by two inches, and they foul off a lot of good pitches right on the edge of the zone. Just a damn good team right now that's playing great baseball. They have the best W-L record in baseball and they play in what is easily the toughest division top to bottom. That $200 million payroll is getting it done.

Dang it Pros, you're usually the one dragging in the giant keg of optimism around here. What do you mean "not that it mattered"? Of COURSE it mattered! Well unless you're privy to exactly how the rest of that inning would have played out had the right call had been made. After all, if it was ruled a non-catch Handy would have gotten another pitch. With Brants on 3rd base any type of hit would have scored him and kept the inning going. Again, who knows what would have happened. After all, they ended up scoring all 4 runs in the top of the ninth after they had two outs. The team has this little gift for scoring with two outs. No one knows what could have happened in the 7th had Demura not blown the call. Besides, I missed the earlier part of the game; seems like there was a questionable call made by him earlier that also went in the Yankees favor and ended up with the Yankees scoring runs. The calls made by that up definitely affected the game.

Let's be honest here. They can take borderline pitches because they know they're going to get the majority of the calls.

Not saying they don't have talent or guys with good plate discipline, but they've got some leeway that most teams don't have.

Sorry, Annie, my giant keg of optimism is just about tapped out. If the right call is made and Hannahan gets a hit, it's still 4-1 Yankees with Chiz coming up. I just don't see any way the Tribe beats the Yanks when the Yanks score 6 runs.

The only reason the Tribe got four runs in the 9th was because it was 6-0 and the Yankees didn't bother to bring in their closer. If it was 6-3 or something close they would have brought in Soriano and slammed the door. Which they eventually did.

Yes, it was an inexcusable call, and theoretically the Indians could have gone on to score seven runs with two out, but I just don't think that's a realistic possibility.
