On an injury update front....... coming back from TJ surgery, Carlos Carrasco is in NY and is scheduled to throw a bullpen tomorrow. Still "best case scenario" is being able to pitch for the Tribe in September.

Travis Hafner ran the bases in Cleveland today and could be sent out on a rehab assignment "in the next couple of days".

I'd love to see little CC take Lowes spot in September. Guy ran out of gas last year at the end.

Raul Ibanez makes Damon look like an average outfielder.

Robbie Cano is the best player on the Yankees. And it's not even close.

That might compete for Kotchman's worst AB as an Indian.... half swing on the first pitch down the middle, takes the second pitch down the middle and then swings at one in the dirt.

Tomlin really needs a quick inning.

Poor Tomlin. He's only useful in 3 or 4 ballparks in the AL.

By the end of this week I'd put good money on the Tigers being in 1st place.

White Sox with 3 in Minn and 4 in NY, we've got 3 in NY and 4 in BAL.

I know Detroit are in the road in Tex and TB, but there's nothing like the Ballpark in Arlington to wake up those bats.

Kuroda has a 3.46 career ERA in over 790 innings. Those two assholes in Houston could only dream of having a career like that.

Hammy has given up and just started doing comedy routines, I think. Hammy is at his most entertaining when the Indians are getting blown out. Then again, he's had plenty of practice calling bad games for the last decade.

This game is reason No. 1 why the casual fan is not buying into this team.

By my count the Yankees right-handed hitters, Jeter and Stewart, were 0-3 against Tomlin. The lefties were 6-for-11 with 3 HRs and a double. Oh, and a single by Texiera that missed being a home run by 3 inches.

Tomlin is reminding me more of Paul Byrd every time out. Let's not forget, though, he started his career with something like 35 games where he pitched at least five innings. Games like this are rare for him, but he was definitely overmatched against this offensive juggernaut.

His 90 mph fastball just didn't cut it, even when he located it. They just kept fouling it off until he made a mistake.

Barnes looked very good until he got tired in his third inning of work, walked a batter with two out, then made one bad pitch.

Rogers throws 96-97 and has excellent control. He was hitting the catcher's glove every time. I don't know what the problem was in Colorado, but he's looked very solid so far.

Damon and Kotchman are just embarassing at the plate. So is Santana. His average is under .230 now with only 5 HRs and we're at the 70 game mark. What happened to him. He not only makes outs, he looks very bad doing it.

Chisenhall looks like he is really trying to stop swinging at bad pitches and so far tonight he's succeeded.

Not much they could do with Kuroda tonight. He came in with a 2.06 ERA in his last five starts and I can see why. Great movement on his pitches and he was totally unpredictable. With Tomlin pitching against a great offensive team in a home run park, you might as well just write this one off. Maybe Masterson can give us a shot tomorrow.

From what I understand from those who actually watch (as opposed to me who paints the picture in my mind from Hammy's sometimes-enhanced calls - LOVE Hammy!) that "ball" to Chavez should have been strike 3 for the 3rd out in the inning. But with a little help from the umps, the skankees got that extra chance which resulted in Chavez walking. Wise should have been first man up in the 7th. Damned umps!

Attendance is apparently not just a problem in Cleveland. I was at the game last night and I saw far fewer Indians fans than I've ever seen at the 15+ Tribe games I've gone to in Yankee stadium.

Hint: it's because the fan base is apathetic, not just because they're running on hard times, economically.

EDIT: And honestly, I don't blame them. I'm a huge Indians honk, but there's very little at the end of the day that gets me excited about this team. Going to a game in B-more this weekend and another next week when i'm in town, and there's very little EXCITEMENT that comes from these guys. They play hard, there's a few guys with some pop, and Masterson is always fun to watch.....

....but who is Joe-Average-Indians-Fan supposed to get excited about? I saw a kid walking around DC with an Ascab #13 jersey, and I did a double take when I realized it was an Indians jersey. Cabrera is probably the best of the group....and that says something. There's very little on this roster you can call dangerous and galvanizing.

You're clearly forgetting Shelly Duncan.

Why is it "Adverb Harry" when your name is an adjective?

^This^ is what our season has come to...in JUNE! I love my Tribe and have followed them for longer than most of you guys have been breathing (I'll be *gasp* 61 tomorrow and I've followed the team since I was 7 or 8) but these guys can actually be painful to listen to at times. Not Hammy, but the team performance. Brutal... Still - go Tribe!Image

See this is just a reminder about how the Indians Marketing and PR department really dropped the ball with Kaz Tadano.

Is Red around to start the game thread?

We swept the Reds when Red started the threads..... since then not so good.... that's what happens when you mess with a streak!
