IMhO he's precisely the profile of player who is the final missing ingredient to a potentially King-Hell offense. WR, house-you-speed, versitile for matchups, great vertical fit for Weeden's arm.

I'd offer a 2013 # 2 and # 4 OR consider a 2014 1st if he agrees to a long-term deal.

I like Harvin - I'd take him in a second. But I wouldn't give up anything near what you propose. He's a malcontent (obviously) that has injury and headache problems. Plus, didn't he and Childress have issues? I can't imagine that he'd be happy about being traded to another bad team with his ex-coach whom he disliked.

The asking price is probably too high.

Only thing that concerns me with Harvin (who has been elite at every level since Pop Warner and lived up to it at the next level- unlike Benjamin, which is the point) is the migraines and the health and just how often he's out there being that weapon.

You people need to lay off the retard sandwiches. I wasn't comparing Benjamin to Harvin. Not at all. Just that they drafted him to fill that role. Harvin would obviously be a better option, but I think the FO will go with the cheaper, younger, less good version now that they spent a draft pick on him.

I agree, but there's always a shot that a pissed GM dumps a malcontent, and the Browns should offer anything after round 1. Part of me just wishes I knew they would.

The list of players that fit the bill of what the O needs to complete the puzzle just right before Harvin is pretty damn short for me.

Putting aside the rumor of him going after Chilly the way Bernie went after Belichick there is no way the Browns go after Harvin. Dude is the definition of high-maintenance WR, has a history of run ins with coaches, and isn't healthy enough to play on enough Sundays to justify the problems. The Browns FO has all but sworn a public blood oath that they'll avoide guys with that many questions.

I completely agree that when healthy and motivated he's exactly the kind of player the Browns could use to elevate this offense to the top of the AFCN if Weeden can make the jump with him. I just think you can't ignore all of the problems he has in Minny and it's not like those problems magically go away in Cleveland the way they would if he went to a team that players want to go to like SF, Gints, Baltimore, Pittspuke, etc.

Also you're insane if you are willing to give up a #1 for a guy as fragile and malcontented as he is. A 2/4 is about the going rate unless you can guarantee it's a late 1st - and no way in hell you can guarantee that with the Browns.

Point being this is the time for the Browns personnel philosophy to take the next step.

Players don't have a say where they get traded to (unless the team is trying to be bend-over-backwards nice like Denver was with Tebow). You think Randy Moss wanted to go from New England to the Vikes?

That being said, the chances of Harvin being traded here are next to nil, mainly b/c I think the Powers That Be have next to nil interest in him.

I'm probably a year too early for their taste. The base talent isn't in place on D. Need a CB, maybe a S although Haag is supposed to be stepping up, one or two Lbers (although the kid from nevada is drawing strong early reviews) , and another DE of two.

Bingo. I'd like to think they WOULD make moves if they felt they were in contention (yet to be determined), but they won't make them this year.
