6-12-12: Tribe at Reds, The Run for the Ohio Cup

Unread postby Am I Here Again? » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:51 pm

Hoping to retain possession of the trophy, our Tribe meets up with the Queen City's team to begin this year's Battle of Ohio. And I'm personally hoping to win two games in a row...

Your Cleveland Indians:

Choo RF
Cabrera SS
Kipnis 2B
Santana C
Brantley CF
Damon LF
Kotchman 1B
Chisenhall 3B

The Enemy Reds:

Heisey CF
Valdez SS
Votto 1B
Phillips 2B
Bruce RF
Frazier 3B
Ludwick LF
Hanigan C

And batting in the ninth position on each team:
Pitching Match-up:
CLE: Gomez (4-4, 4.97)
CIN: Cueto (6-3, 2.63)
I've tried 'em all, I really have, and the only church that truly feeds the soul, day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball.~~~Annie Savoy-"Bull Durham"

Cueto is a tough egg, and he likes pitching against the Indians

The reds' bullpen has been vulnerable- even Chapman.

Jeanmar might be able to give up 3-4 runs, but preferably not till later in the game!

Cueto appears to be back in form. He went about four straight starts where he was pedestrian in May. Two straight really good starts from him. I'd expect him to be very good again tonight.

Not a very good ballpark or matchup for Jeanmar. A lot of guys who like to elevate the ball.

Hoping they win another series, but a 5-4 road trip based on who they played is alright with me.

Why you giving away a series before the first pitch? :spanky:

Not giving away a series. It's extremely hard to win three straight road series against who we played. Just saying that I want 6-3, I'm fine with 5-4, and I'd do naked laps around the Jake if we go 7-2.

I understand Manny does want his pitchers hurt, but damn...at least make him burn a few pitches before you lay down.

I don't understand having Jeanmar bunt. If you don't want him to swing just have him stand at the plate and get called out on strikes; at least Cueto wastes a few pitches.

Has Gomez had a first-pitch strike in this game? I've been in and out of listening range and it seems like all the batters get a ball the first time.

Was at my one Tribe game a year, last nite.

Nice to get a look at Kipnis up close.

For some reason, I still really like Gomez. Bounces the ball up there a lot though.

I am beating around the bush, here...

OK here it is, I will own it:

I made a deal with the sports gods last nite. 'Give me a Heat loss, and make Lebron invisible in the 4th. You can have the Tribe's Cueto game."

Sorry.

I left the room for a second. Was it farther than 387 feet?

Official measurement had it at 402 feet

All things considered, I was pretty damn close.

Not sure you needed to do that. Lebron usually does that well enough on his own

Maybe. Had to make the call. James had shown recent signs of taking the next step and finishing. I flashed back to Modell basking in the Baltimore championship, saying that proved he made the right decision (or was that the Rams owner lady back in the day?). Anyway, the stakes were too high. Couldn't risk it.

Cleveland fans, I knew it was a thankless duty I had to bear-
I slept well last night, knowing it was the right decision.
