Lowe has a sensational 1.87ERA against the Tigers but the bulk of his starts against Detroit came when they were awful. Not many of the guys in Detroit's lineup have faced Lowe more than 10 times.
Their guy got hammered in his first 3.1 innings in the Bigs this season. However he's a lefty and it can always go either way with us when we are facing a young guy who we haven't seen before. We either tag his ass or get bummed.

Great at bat from Lopez, and now an eight game hit streak

"Watching" on Gameday.

"Michael Brantley reached on fielding error by first baseman Prince Fielder." Good times.

Let's get some more runs Dunc.

I amazes me how Detroit still plays Prince at 1st. He is statistically the worst 1B in baseball.

That was somewhat of a slow chopper and Duncan was still miles away from being safe.

I knew he would GIDP. I hate him

I'd like to leave Duncan and LaPorta in inner city Detroit and give one roster spot to whichever guy survives and makes it back to the Tribe clubhouse.

Derek Lowe isn't locating anything today.

This isn't the kind of lineup you can fall behind 2-0, 3-0 or 3-1 and escape.

Lowe's regression means we have no decent starting pitchers right now.

All of them are liable to give up 4+ runs every time they toe the rubber.

It's amazing we have a winning record, never mind being half a game out of first place with this rotation.

We would then need to fill two roster spots. Although LaPorta might be able to convert his potential assailants.

Add to that Cabrera hitting a pretty good pitch an inch beyond Choo's glove and you just have one of those days.

Agreed. I think Lowe also runs into a problem of increasing his tempo when he's getting hit around the yard. I know he likes to work fast, but he doesn't give himself a chance to catch his breath and the opposition just circles the bases.

I know I'm not in a position to tell the guy to change what has worked for him for a lot of years, but I think he'd benefit from slowing down and starting some guys off with a breaking ball when he's getting tagged.

I'd rather have seen Santana put one in play there than have Lopez up with em loaded.

Not a bad idea. Acta elects not to, but I like where your head's at.

Probably afraid to piss off the vet. Not justifying it, but that's what I think Acta's thinking.

That Berry kid is horrible at going back on the ball.

Good AB from Lopez til he chased that head-high fastball.

Was a pretty solid one. Fouled off a couple breaking balls, laid off a two-strike splitter down.

Hit the ball well to CF, turned the CF around a couple times. Made a catch that was called nice, but only because he played it badly.

Given how they played at home against KC and MIN, and with Ubaldo starting the first one, I honestly expected to get swept. 2 of 3 is a pleasant surprise.

Based on the way were playing going in, I would've happily taken 1 out of 3..... so, to win the series is a good result.

Lowe wasn't at his best today..... you can live with the first inning as he was giving up ground ball singles and that's gonna happen with a sinkerballer. The 4th inning though, just falling behind and getting the ball up.

Even with all that, we were one big hit away from pulling this one out....... Just goes to show the lack of depth in this lineup when you're counting on big hits from Jose Lopez and he already has close to 100ABs one third of the way into a season when he's already been DFA'd once!!

Interleague play starts back up tomorrow and we get to see our old friend Jake Westbrook who's been scuffling lately.

Cards offense had been struggling too. They reeled off two touchdowns against Houston tonight.

Hoping Jake pitches well and takes a no decision in a 2-1 Tribe win.

We have quite a tough Interleague Schedule and success in IL play will depend on how well we tackle the Reds who are number 1 in the NL Central
