I don't disagree with you at all. You don't have to defend your stance to me. I agree wholeheartedly and I didn't like the way Perez came off with his attendance comments and how critical he was of ownership. Saying something about attendance is fine, but I don't agree with how he went about it.

He can be as much of an asshole as he wants until it reaches a point where it gets one of our guys hit. Or, until it reaches the point where he isn't effective enough to back up his bullshit.

I just wonder how much baseball teams hold the opposition accountable for a closer being a dick. I just wonder if, since so many closers are assholes, teams just separate them from their opponent. It's not like many of the Indians players would condone that activity and a veteran, like Lowe or Damon, may have some words for Perez.

Thing is, unless you're the new, metro-sexual baseball bad-ass like Cole Hamels, you're not likely to know why a certain guy got a pitch in the back.

It's just supposed to take care of a situation (perceived or otherwise) and be done with it (theoretically).

If I had to guess, yes, plenty of guys have gotten hit because of Perez and Papelbon and Valverde. But other than beat guys or play-by-play guys maybe making reference of it during a broadcast or on Twitter or something, you probably never really know or hear about it.

Seriously, I was thrilled they beat a shitty team, but that move and the near knee blowout at the end pissed ME off and I'm a Perez and Indians fan. Simply because the Royals almost HAVE to respond now and that means a GD hamate bone is just waiting to be hit.

I know it won't happen, and I know it would hurt the Indians by making Hafner an expensive pinch hitter, but I think reasons like this are why we need to go back to having the pitchers bat in the American League. Granted, it wouldn't affect closers, unless the game goes into extra innings, but it would maybe give some of them pause before they rub it in too much on the opposing team, since they would be the ones getting in the batter's box.

Even though I know Perez shouldn't have hotdogged it like that yesterday, I like seeing someone on the Indians have an attitude for once. That "play the game the right way" crap gets really dull after awhile. I just hope he can continue to back it up.

Kipnis isn't remotely to Pedroia's douchebaggery YET, but he hasn't had an MVP season. I imagine with similar accolades, Kipnis could be headed down a bad path. To this point he's been mostly endearing and humble, with the exception of a few fist pumps after coming in at home.

Perez is quickly approaching (and surpassing) Papelbon's levels, though. I like to see the guy fired up, but the "cant feel my face" shit is a pinnacle of obnoxiousness.

I never got Pedroia's 2007 ALCS Game 7 bat flip out of my head. That's why I hate him. That one incident.

Plus, my neighbor's mother's new husband is very close to the Pedroia family and he doesn't shut up about him any time I see him, which is fairly often because my neighbors like to grill out and have people over.
