I'd be okay with either, as well. But I was thinking of Asencio. Terry Mulholland was one of the greatest garbage inning pitchers the Indians have ever had. Bring him into a 10-3 game (winning or losing) and he'd get you nine quick outs. Nine up, nine down. Bring him into the 13th inning of a tie game, and he gives up a gopher ball to the first batter.

To be fair, the difference in performance between the two series is incredible. To go from one to the other is pretty shocking, all things considered.

You know...out of all the horrific events of this weekend, I think the worst thing happened Friday night when Robin Ventura exposed to the baseball world what we all already knew: You can bring up a curtain-jerking pitcher from AA ball, and as long as he throws left-handed, rest assured that the Indians won't score much against him. I look for more teams to manage their rotations to throw lefties at us.

The big problem with this is they are running out of teams they're supposed to beat.

They are running about the worst line-up in the league out there, and their front end of the staff is a disaster, and the back end will act like a back end.

Christ, starting the year with Shelly Duncan there, and now Jose Lopez - they should forget the Bobble head night and go with the "random fan bats fifth for the Tribe" promotion.

Lousy division, scratch a little above .500 and ya gotts a shot, but if this squad is a .500 team, then people have been huntin' me for a long time, cause I'm Sasquatch.

Agree with all except the inferior opponent. Sox are a good team, coming in right behind us with a 5-4 series advantage, and just beat us up one side and down the other.

Funny thing, after the injuries on Friday, would have thought our problem would have been scoring runs. But it was a catastrophic failure of the starting and middle relief pitchers. Maybe it's a bump in the road, and it is most certainly early in the season, but it would have been nice to have Lowe or Ubaldo be the stopper. Instead they couldn't even keep it close. If none of those guys can gut out a great start when its needed, who will? Masterson, maybe, but like all our starters, he's been uneven. Nit picking I know, but it's nice to know that one of the starting staff can will themselves a good game when one is needed. Get into a playoff race, and the situation will most certainly arise.

So it falls on Tomlin. Need a good start tomorrow to offset the missing heart of the offense.

My guess would be Ascencio DFA'd.

Wouldn't surprise me if they also optioned Sipp out as well and called up a guy like Barnes or Herrmann to give them some length out of the pen for a series or two.
