Uphill Climb v. Pale Hosers 5/27/12

Unread postby skatingtripods » Sun May 27, 2012 12:04 pm

And you thought yesterday's lineup sucked...

It says DH next to Johnny Damon's name today.

Since I suck at starting game threads, today's the kind of game I might actually win.

Tribe:

Choo 9
Brantley 8
Kipnis 4
Lopez 5
Kotchman 3
Duncan 7
Damon DH
Diaz 6
Marson 2

Jimenez

White Sox:

De Aza 8
Beckham 4
Dunn DH
Konerko 3
Rios 9
Viciedo 7
Skeletor 6
Flowers 2
Hudson 5

Floyd

Ugh.

Anyone have any thoughts on Goedert, who currently is doing well at AAA. I know he bats right, and can play 3B, 2B, and OF. Just wondering.

Ugh.

Reverse psychology. Maybe it works?

Not on the 40-man roster, so they'd have to make a move. (Bu-bye Johnny!) FWIW, Goedert hit a grand slam last night...

With a lineup like that, they should be offering refunds.

DH role is perfect for Damon. Now we can have 3 OF's instead of 2.5

White Sox pitchers really should be ashamed of giving up this number of runs to a team missing its 3-4-5 hitters.

They're craptastic in their own right.

They'll be in first place by Tuesday.
And Indians pitchers should be ashamed of giving up 33 runs in 3 games.

I'd be okay with either, as well. But I was thinking of Asencio. Terry Mulholland was one of the greatest garbage inning pitchers the Indians have ever had. Bring him into a 10-3 game (winning or losing) and he'd get you nine quick outs. Nine up, nine down. Bring him into the 13th inning of a tie game, and he gives up a gopher ball to the first batter.

Greatest place ever.

Thursday at 5pm it was ticket selling on the World Series bus.

And today it's this.

Clockwork.

Not a team in the division that's not severely flawed. We got that going for us. :thumb up:

To be fair, the difference in performance between the two series is incredible. To go from one to the other is pretty shocking, all things considered.

You know...out of all the horrific events of this weekend, I think the worst thing happened Friday night when Robin Ventura exposed to the baseball world what we all already knew: You can bring up a curtain-jerking pitcher from AA ball, and as long as he throws left-handed, rest assured that the Indians won't score much against him. I look for more teams to manage their rotations to throw lefties at us.

In the world of college football (or basketball) betting, we call this a letdown spot. A game against an inferior opponent after an emotional win. The Indians were riding high, had Tigers hangover, are missing a lot of key contributors, and still have had one off day in 27 days. They're entitled to a turd sandwich like this every now and then.

Beat the teams we're supposed to beat at home and get a couple of off days. They'll be fine.

Beat the teams we're supposed to beat at home and get a couple of off days. They'll be fine.

The big problem with this is they are running out of teams they're supposed to beat.

They are running about the worst line-up in the league out there, and their front end of the staff is a disaster, and the back end will act like a back end.

Christ, starting the year with Shelly Duncan there, and now Jose Lopez - they should forget the Bobble head night and go with the "random fan bats fifth for the Tribe" promotion.

Lousy division, scratch a little above .500 and ya gotts a shot, but if this squad is a .500 team, then people have been huntin' me for a long time, cause I'm Sasquatch.

Agree with all except the inferior opponent. Sox are a good team, coming in right behind us with a 5-4 series advantage, and just beat us up one side and down the other.

Funny thing, after the injuries on Friday, would have thought our problem would have been scoring runs. But it was a catastrophic failure of the starting and middle relief pitchers. Maybe it's a bump in the road, and it is most certainly early in the season, but it would have been nice to have Lowe or Ubaldo be the stopper. Instead they couldn't even keep it close. If none of those guys can gut out a great start when its needed, who will? Masterson, maybe, but like all our starters, he's been uneven. Nit picking I know, but it's nice to know that one of the starting staff can will themselves a good game when one is needed. Get into a playoff race, and the situation will most certainly arise.

So it falls on Tomlin. Need a good start tomorrow to offset the missing heart of the offense.

I am wondering who goes down when Tomlin is activated. I would have said Diaz, but with Cabrera out, it will not be him. I guess the only good news from the weekend is the Pestano and Perez should be fresh for KC.

My guess would be Ascencio DFA'd.

Wouldn't surprise me if they also optioned Sipp out as well and called up a guy like Barnes or Herrmann to give them some length out of the pen for a series or two.

But Manny really seems to prefer a seven man bullpen. So, even if Ascencio is DFA'd, someone would need to replace him. Might actually see two moves!
