Okay... then 15 is their ceiling.

I think your ridiculous, arbitrary number is low.

Weeden will be the 29 yr old Tom Brady, the receivers were all great all along and every single break goes their way.

2nd coming of the no-name defense and a synthetic pec allows Taylor back on the field for game 1.

Wrong year to give up season tickets since they're hosting the AFC title game.

For realzies, Peeks? I'm not sure if you're being obstinate or just effing with Hiko. 3 wins as a CEILING is ridiculous. I think they'll win somewhere around 3-5, but to think that if EVERYTHING GOES RIGHT this team will ASPIRE to 3 wins, that's a bit disingenuous.

2 years ago, this team was a shit sandwich. They won 5 games. Every quarterback on that roster was terribler than the worst guy, currently. Receivers are better. Defense more skilled across the board. Provided Shwartz is average, the O-line better. Richardson >> Hillis/Harrison.

I agree with Hiko; if Weedon >> Colt, this team will be in a position to win about 9 games. They'll likely screw up most of those chances, and end up around 4-5. 6 with a lucky bounce or two.

I don't deal in 'ceilings'. What I'm saying is the entire notion of 'ceilings' is fucking stupid.

(Not in an architectural way. They're crucial in that regard to hold in heat, keep out water and provide a ground floor to the layers above you, but when talking about a football team and placing any random number of wins with it they're fucking useless)

Tail chasing.

I'm sure saying so is butt hurt though. ;-) ;)

Wonder what Vegas has as the Browns 'ceiling'?

Not gonna lie, if I take the Browns 'under 5 1/2 wins' on a wager, I probably considered the upside of the most important position on the GD field and assessed 'the ceiling' on it.

One of the posts that started this trail of conversation was about Coward saying the Browns "Ceiling" was 3, which I said was ridiculous.

Not like I asked "Hey, whaddaya y'all think the Browns ceiling is?"

And then you come riding in making stupid statements to be a dick regarding a notion that you think is stupid anyway? Is that your thing now? Did E0 hack your account?

By the way, I don't think people are wrong to look at an individual player in terms of ceiling. Makes some sense.

But when you're talking 53 guys on a roster and all those moving parts?

Funny.

Yeah, a player isn't at all affected by the moving parts around him.

You didn't understand what the conversation was about, got belligerent about it, then called it stupid when you understood.

I want to make a bet with you on something. Your butt-hurtedness is making you irrational, ripe for the picking. ;-) ;)

You misunderstand.

I think you're delusional.

100% delusional.

You can look at a given guy and make whatever observations you want. Attempting to formulate a team's ceiling based on that is.... well.... delusional.

Butt-hurtedness is not in the dictionary. I'm calling shenanigans on that usage.

It's not even the moving parts on the 53 that defies the concept of a ceiling, but the 15 or so decision makers above that 15 that make it truly a hopeless cause.

Better still.

Coward's ridiculous ceiling of '3' and my ridiculous ceiling of '15' makes your ridiculous ceiling of '9' the perfect middle of reason.

One could argue record predictions of any kind is delusional. It doesn't prevent it from happening.

3 is as delusional as 15 is as delusional as 9. We're all just making shit up.

Just so you know, the Browns have won/lost-by-less-than-a-TD an average of about 11 games per season since 2001 (best - 2002 with 15, 16 if you count the playoffs, worst 2004 and 2008 with 8). But as I've said many times, numbers lie.

Analysis stolen from DooDoo:

FUN FACTS

In our franchise's first 49 seasons, we managed 5 wins or less only 7 times.

1990: 3-13
1984: 5-11
1982: 4-5 (<--shouldn't count, especially since we made the playoffs)
1981: 5-11
1975: 3-11
1974: 4-10
1956: 5-7 (<--shouldn't count)

But in our last 14 seasons, we've accomplished this 10 times!

This analysis also supports Hiko's neverending assertion that Browns fans now are whiny assholes because the rebirth hasn't been any worse of a period than his childhood was....

Taking out the strike-shortened season of 1982 (where the Browns got into the "playoffs" with a 4-5 record), between my birth and 1985, the Browns went to the Playoffs one (1) time. That's one (1) playoff appearance in 12 years.

It doesn't make much fucking difference to me if they won 5 games those seasons or 7.

Now, is one (1) playoff appearance in 12 years better than one (1) playoff appearance in 14? Yes. Is it a big difference? No, not unless you are terminally butt-hurt and the world cannot survive without hearing you reiterate how bad things are because we can't personally understand it without being reminded constantly.

Which, I assume was your goal since you just felt the need to randomly throw this out there.

I think the drug store might have some cream for your chafed anus. You should check on that.

Ah, I see, winning 5 games almost every single year is no worse than going five hundred...

Nice argument.

The current era of suck is damn near the worst in the history of sports, you just like to call people whiners.

No, I just like to call whiners whiners.

EDIT - Upon reflection, it does make a difference to me. Would I rather have the Browns win 7 games and miss the playoffs or win 5 games and miss the playoffs? Easy. 5. You missed the playoffs anyway, might as well get a better draft pick.

Consider these winning percentage era's
1946-49 .914
1950-69 .696
1970-95 .491
1999-Now .326

Awesome. :thumb up:

DL is gonna be even weaker if what I've heard today about Rubin makes its way out into the public.

Will hold out hope it may have been blowing smoke but heard from a decent enough source that he is likely out thru much of the preseason. Had surgery this week.

Taylor's rehab is going well though at least. Optimistically may not miss but a couple reg season games.
Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose. Playing here is the closest thing to heaven. Really, I mean it's amazing to be in a place where the fans truly cherish their football team and stick behind them win or lose.
