They are taking liberties with the books, but so far very good ones. Absolutely CAN'T WAIT to see the Stanis onslaught on King's Landing.

The kid playing Joffrey IS doing a fabulous job...makes me wanna go into school and assign 50 pages of long division....to just the boys.

HBO once again has aired a series that makes me look forward to Sunday Nights.

The open in the last South Park episode where the teacher had covered the entire blackboard and was trying to sort out the fucking stupidity that is the 5000 characters and kingdoms in this show was one of the funniest things they have done in awhile.

This show is intolerably big, if you don't full out geek out and obsess over it you simply can't even follow the ridiculousness.

Hey don't get me wrong, I like both shows; they both have their respective strong points and I can easily see how it would be hard to get into either. You want to hold up character development, just wait for the story arcs of Tyrion and Jamie. Meaning, for those who haven't read the books, next season will be 10x more epic than this season (if they can fit all of the 3rd book into one season).

Honestly, that is the problem with this show, there are so many fucking characters and they are trying to tell so many stories at the same time outside of cool deaths and boobs the story telling is like watching someone with tourets try to read Shakespeare.

And literally, you need to take notes or read the books to keep kingdom 756 separate from kingdom 2,456. Every single week you have to work to remember all the damn assholes.

Honestly, that is the problem with this show, there are so many fucking characters and they are trying to tell so many stories at the same time outside of cool deaths and boobs the story telling is like watching someone with tourets try to read Shakespeare.

That's been the problem with adapting the lengthy books. There is nothing of the Rob storyline in the books since he's not a POV character but without Ned Stark, there has to be some semblance of good for the audience to care about. Jamie is a POV character but since he's captive, doesn't have any chapters til later. Once Catelyn leaves, everything else about Rob is hearsay.


And the storylines and Kings will be condensed. Quickly. The challenge will be keeping up the action/plot development during the seasons that take place for the 4th and from what I've heard, 5th books.

I'm a heterosexual male, but Girls is great. Veep has serious potential but right now, it just isn't that funny. I love all the people involved (Tony Hale and Matt Walsh especially) but I don't find myself laughing very much.

Don Draper is one of the least interesting characters in the history of TV. I wish he met The Hound in a dark alley. I would watch Fad Men if that happened.

The names are hard to remember, but the characters themselves are easy. Dude that's helping Arya, no idea what his name is, but I know he's cool.

And I think there are good characters for the audience to like. The Stark offspring are cool so far. But they may not stay that way and that's fine.

It's the best and most entertaining show around.

Veep is ok, I like JLD, she's funny and still hot, but the show's humor is like Casey Kotchman.

I watch the show with my fiance. I've read the books, she hasn't. Everytime something that seems like it could be confusing happens, I ask her if she knows what's going on, and she always does. She gets it just fine, and isn't a "geek" who has read the books, rewatches episodes or anything like that.

The show isn't really THAT complicated. I mean, it's more complicated than South Park, but it's really not that bad if you pay a reasonable amount of attention.

I think NCIS is supposed to be a highly rated show and I've never watched nor had a conversation with anyone about it in my life. A big problem with discussing the ratings of any CBS show is the fact that the audience is old as dirt.

Game of Throwns is pulling the key 18-40 demo and crushing it.

Mad Men set a new record with 3.5MM viewers for the season premier, whereas GoT is averaging roughly 3.75MM on original air, not even factoring in On Demand and reruns, which matter a ton to HBO since they don't live off of Ad Revenue like AMC.

I guess maybe you're just getting old so the people around you don't discuss GoT.... heh.

And no comeez, there is no arguing that Game of Throwns, articistically is nothing special TV wise. Fun, enjoyable, all that jazz, you can have whatever opinion you want, but it is from a purely art standpoint pretty effin meh.

Yeah, you have no worries there. Trueblood was the last cash cow HBO hit like this and Alan Ball managed to run the entire audience off in two/three years. HBO is going to ride this puppy out, especially since they just lost $35MM on Luck once PETA made them cancel season 2.
