This team's sphincter just puckers up with guys in scoring position.

/would have started thread but I'm 0-11. And the White Sox own us so I didn't want to give them anymore than they already got.

I don't care what you're paying him, I don't care how great his defense is...at a certain point you simply cannot play a guy hitting below .150

Especially when the guy you traded your Cy Young ace for is hitting nearly .400 with a +1.000 OPS in AAA.

Yes, because Matt LaPorta's good AAA numbers have translated to the bigs in the past.

They're a helluva lot better than .140!

LaPorta 2011 OPS+ = 97
Kotchman 2012 OPS+ = 41

Nothing to bitch about. Pitch to Morel was up a little. Pitched around De Aza. Just didn't locate. Not a guy with much margin for error. Can't throw it past people.

I hate to kick on a guy when he's down, but Kotchman isn't even coming close to having a good at bat. My guess is his eyes need another tune up because he clearly has no clue what he's seeing.

Yeah, he looks awful.

I think the worst stat of all of them for him is that when he puts a ball in play when the count's in his favor, he's 1-for-21. That one hit is a HR.

:thud:

Most of those are weak grounders. He's just not seeing the ball.

Acta asleep at the wheel. Marson should've been running for Kotchman. Santana can play 1B. Marson might at least generate a play at the plate. Kotchman barely got to 3B.

Hell, if you're bringing Cunningham in for defensive purposes, he could have run. You still let Shelley hit, put Marson in the leadoff spot, then move Santana to 1B, Marson to C, Cunningham to LF.

Do I start again? If so it will have to be early (probably before line-ups) since I have a banquet to show up at tomorrow around 6:30PM. And I ain't skippin' the banquet since the dinner cost me $21. ;-) ;)

That game was well played all the way around. Starts with the starting pitcher...that always helps. Joe Smith and Pestano have been great this year and to my surprise other than opening day C Perez has been just fine.

Nope, a big-ass, medium-rare prime rib. Besides, we're coming up on lobster season around here. More plentiful means cheaper - for $21 I'll be able to get a twin-lobster dinner plus a glass of wine for my $21...and have change left over. ;-) ;)

Hannahan is now 8-13 with RISP and 2 outs.

He's the homeless man's Victor Martinez, the Bizarro Casey Blake.

I think the key is to having 2 people start game threads for each game. We're 1-0 that way.
