Wonder who will drive him to games there since he's too short for his feet to reach pedals in the car.

One of the 10 chauffeurs or 25 maids his gold digging soon to be wife will hire no doubt.

Are you really ripping the dude's wife?

He'll be a good QB, despite what the fake ass "experts" say. If he's tall enough to throw over Wisco's line, he can do it in the NFL too.

Lot of decent WRs in the 4th round. Couple potential impact guys with good skills. We'll see.

I don't hate it.

Looks like we aren't addressing the WR hole, but I don't know how much you're "addressing " it at this point anyway.

Not gonna complain about depth on the D-Line.

WRs aren't really flying off the board like I thought they would. Other than Sanu, I like a fair amount of the guys.

Either teams don't like the WRs or they're addressing other needs. I don't know.

Gonna be kinda hard for Weeden to complete passes when his best WR is Greg effin Little.

Just read that Hughes was borderline 6-7th rounder. Great pick.

But SI has him ranked as the 27th best DT in the draft.

I stayed up for this?

We trade down and get this crap? We pick up an extra pick just to get extra crap?? Shoulda drafted a WR instead of trading down or drafted a DT rated in the top 25 of all DTs

After a little research, I take back what I said earlier about not hating the pick.

Don't hate the idea. But the pick sounds like it sucks donkey balls.

Why are we taking a DT when we have Rubin, Sheard, and Taylor?

Just not sure what H&H are thinking other than "Fuck You Fans!" How about a WR or LB? Oh wait, let's take a shitty DT tackle from UC. He won't have to drive that far to get here and we can save on a plane ticket. I guess I wouldn't be a Browns fan if I wasn't disappointed.

At a quick glance, SI had Hughes ranked as right around the 330th best player in the draft. We snuck him in at 87. I love being a browns fan.

Meh, also had Lamar Miller rated higher than David Wilson who went 32nd. I like the position, so I am willing to wait and see on the player.

Sheard is a defensive end.

Rubin and Taylor are starters yes, but you need to have a good rotation system in place. That's why he was drafted.

OK.

But why didn't we just draft him in the 7th round then? Or the 6th if we really really liked him and wanted to make sure nobody snaked him out from underneath us?

Can't answer that.

The Browns big board is way different than say Mel Kipers, Todd McShays, etc. We don't know why Heckert has him rated that high.

The Hughes pick baffles me. Not so much the position, but the player. Everything I've read says he's a late draftable project...you dont usually take those guys in the 3rd effing round.

One thing about Heckert...he targets and gets "his guys."

The problem is that "his guys" usually suck.

We needed 4 starters with the first four picks...we got three.

And a huge gaping hole at WR.

Paraphrasing MKC:

Heckert said he almost took Hughes at #67 and was sweating it out and regetting the trade down until their pick came up.

That's scary...he was going to take this guy at the top of the 3rd round. Wow.

Good times Thursday y'all.

Watched day two with my son and we fried everything in the house.

Schwartz pick was good. We have nothing there. Nothing. Had to go ORT and if they liked him better than the others, prerogative.

Clearly after RR went of the board they went into day 3 mode. Just try for BPA on the big board. Line depth was needed on both sides, as are LBer and DB's so the ST's can stop sucking.

Stud WR will need to come next year.

Like the TR and Weeden picks. Kid really does have alive arm.

Where's SD??!?!?!

Bwahahahahaha.

And Wilson's GF is a phreak. She'll do anything. You can just tell. Sayin'.

SD:

Right fucko you told me Weeden at 22 after we missed Wright and panicked and picked him before 37 where he was slated .

Right .

I said before the draft didn't care who the Browns drafted if he was a player in the first and that TR the heavy favorite would be a star , although I prefered Tanne for the long haul and pimped my choice .

We have a solid running back , that cost us extra because we lost are leverage allowing Hillis to walk , with him on the roster we could have simply picked Blackmon and had weeden his weapon and added running back in the second and been set.

The Vikes worked Heckert like Millen worked Butch .

No matter they learned their lesson after cocking off the RG3 pick and didn't play cute on either Tr or Weeden and stepped up and took both guys they wanted .

Weeden signals a clear they have to win now mindset , I'm down with that .

Kudos to you lbsouth and anybody else who pimped him all along .

I had my reservations and still do .

Now he's a Brown he belongs o me same as everybody else and , he carries the stake to stick in Colts heart so I ain't bit mad with the choice.

But Fuck you if you want to play the genius that now all of a sudden your Smaaaart .

Quick show me your Board where you had Swartz a in the second and Hughes in the third

you fuckin asshole.

John Hughes might be a good player, but he was a reach at that point no matter how you look at it, I don't care what movies he directed.

I'm w/SD. Hughes was obvious reach but fans will justify Weeden because that's what they do. It was still a reach there. Also agree he's now mine and I'll live and die with him.

None of us know. But when experts and pro personnel people are laughing and scratching heads it's another data point. Maybe H&H are smarter than everyone. They've certainly earned that distinction thus far. :hide:

I won't argue that any pick we've made was a reach in some degree, but I think you have to take our entire situation into consideration. Reach, OK, but out of desperation, urgency, etc...that is where the argument really is.

Maybe the only real advantage of having Holmgrem is that the players we've accumulated in the past 2 seasons will fit the scheme of the guy he will hire as HC in the next 9 months if Shurmur doesn't get er done (b/c MH will look for a coach of similar X & O background). Don't laugh, it's a legit possibility.

Bottom line for me is on paper the Cleveland Browns are better today than they were on Thursday on 7:15pm EST. That and $8.50 will get me a Chipotle burrito bowl.

Isn't every team better on paper today than they were thursday at 7:15?

The Hughes pick is the only one that really irritates me at this point.

Weeden was likely too high, but if you think he's your Franchise QB, you make sure you get him.

Will he be? Hard to say. But he was the only QB in the draft after RG3 that might be. I do really like his skill set and production. It will be refreshing to watch a QB that can actually throw the ball again - as JB said Friday morning, DA with a brain.

Why do you always have to be that guy?

Agreed all around. Let's face it, the Hughes pick is awful. Could have had Joe Adams there (plus Benjamin). I'm fine w/ everything else.

Did you gents see this?

It means nothing about his ability to be a good NFL QB, really, but impressive nonetheless.

No, it's really not. The only truthful thing (and I don't mean that in a bad way) that Holmgren has said in the past 2 years is "that's the last coach I'll hire".

Holmgren is not going to get the chance to fire Shurmur - if the Browns don't show improvement this year and get the fan base at least hopeful, then Lerner pulls the trigger and/or Holmgren pulls the ripcord and "retires".
I don't need to be patient, they're going to be shit forever.
