Jamie Moyer

Heard on the radio here in SC (where radio is automatically better because Chuck Booms isn't on here and the chicks all have a southern drawl) that Jamie Moyer has pitched to 8% of all the batters in the major leagues.

Ever. 8% of all batters who have played MLB.

Pretty amazing that he’s still throwing. His first start was against Steve Carlton in 1986. Carlton is now 67 years old.

Moyer couldn't break a window when he was young and strong. His career is really incredible all things considered.

He didn't throw a single pitch over 80 in his last start.

I was bored and called my buddy to make a fantasy baseball trade one night. I wanted Jamie Moyer because he was starting that night and the game was on ESPN. I wanted to watch it. Plus, Moyer had another start that week, so I could get two starts from him in one week. We made the trade. Moyer won both games that week. My friend started calling me Supergenius because of that trade.

That was 1992.

*grammar.

They told this anecdote on ESPN about how Digger Phelps told his son-in-law Moyer during the 92 season, which he missed, that he should pursue other sources of livelihood. Then I come here and see someone posting a story about Moyer from 1992. The guy's played 100 years and the poster happened to choose the 1 season that he missed. I found that to be funny.

Then it was probably 1993, maybe 1994. I am basing it off the memory of which apartment I lived in when. The point is, it was a looooooooooooong time ago.
