To finally introduce relations into the show's forefront? To display their straightforward racism vs. SCDP's more subtle and implicit form? To show that an SCDP competitor has equally shitty looking offices?

As far as everything else, nothing new happened besides 'new guy.' Roger pissed at Pete once again, small rift with Don and Megan, and the Heinz thing just completely fizzled out.
Oh well, can't be great every week; there's nowhere to go but up, and I'm sure it will.

That was a very par for the course early season Mad Men episode, not sure how you can forget people wanting to kill Weiner last year for the fact that he went 3 if not 4 episodes without a single thing happening.
He uses the early season to set up his characters and arcs, it just is the nature of the show. Expect another week or two of it as well.

Mad Men is written like chess, Weiner puts everything in place and then throws the damn board on the ground, making you have to rebuild it again before he throws it on the ground.
I'd be willing to bet your Game of Thrones last night was rather boring on it's own.... hell it took them three episodes to even start making sense last year.

What a hilarious concept.

Of course I followed the link and immediately put the MM recap on hold as I clicked the Better Off Ted link.
Goddam do I miss that show. And apparently there are 2 episodes that never ran on TV. Cool.
ok, carry on with Mad Men.

Betty's issues in part come from her childhood.
