Well Holmgren threw me through a bit of a loop yesterday by saying he’d discourage a trade down and probably use the first three picks on offense, and with the signing of Patterson for starting CB money and the talk of Brown moving to safety to replace the departed Adams, there isn’t much reason not to believe him.
So I started thinking about packages of offensive players added to this team if you spent the first three picks on offense or 2 of the first 3 on offense.
Throw out the whole idea of draft slots and what is "too high" to take a position and ask yourself - What is the best package of players that the Browns could end up with using those picks on offense? I've used a few solid mocks to make these groups with who is likely to be available in these spots:

I don't believe Holmgren. Think he is in full damage control with the media right now.

IMO, at the min people should believe that we are not taking Claiborne with that #4 pick.
He said they would probably go offense with those first three, and I'd be willing to bet that when the dust clears we will see an offensive player at #4, and one of 22 or 37 also going to an offensive player.

I have no problem saying that I don't know the OL prospects well enough to even venture a guess. I just know that Adams is not a guy I want in the 1st.
By the late 1st and 2nd rounds, there are always people that fall and always people that get picked way ahead of where the "experts" think they should go. There might very well be someone available that you didn't think would be, or the Browns might take someone that was supposed to go later.

I agree Hiko, but the mocks are pretty damned accurate over the first 2 rounds. The order can change, but the group of players selected is probably going to match the group listed in the mock drafts (assuming you pick a decent one) fairly accuratly.
I'd say its probably in the range of 58 of 64.
And with the Browns last pick in this exercise being a 37, taking every OL in the first 64 picks of a mock is probably going to be pretty much on point.

BTW I agree completely on Adams..the more time that passes and what he did at the combine...I mean the guy is who he is. He's probably not going to change.

I'd say that most mock drafts are accurate for about the Top 10, then fall all apart due to trades and wildcard picks. But, yeah, by the late first they're usually still accurate plus/minus 15 spots.

I think Jax to #4 is a possibility as they look to add Blackmon to a pathetic WR corp.
Then at #7 maybe Tanny makes more sense, even think that's a reach but I look at what plays out between Miami and Seattle and the loser looking to go get Tanny. If we want him, we just have to be in front of them. Personally I'm not sure I like Tanny but I hope they think about the idea of moving back and adding picks if they can.

Right but you are talking about exact slots, I'm saying that its probably 90% accurate on what group of players is selected in the first 2 rounds.
So for our purposes, we pretty much know the group of linemen that are going to be selected in the first 2 rounds.

I'd take Tate, but make sure you make that trade before draft day so you know it's safe to skip Richardson.

Lerner should kick his fat ass to the curb , instruct heckert to overpay for Flynn and identify a QB list in these next two drafts capable of starting in the next 24 months with a plan to execute on them in this draft or the next .
He can get another czar of operations for a fuck of lot less than $50 million , and actually get some work done.
