I say we trade down four times in the first round, every time passing up an all=world son of our greatest LB ever, and then take another center. Then use one of the two fourth rounders on a long snapper.

All seriousness ...

#4 - Best OL or DL.
#22 - Best WR.
#37 - QB if Weeden is there. If not, WR/OL/DL.

Trade down from 4 and get another 2nd rounder

1st) Tanny

1st) highest rated among WR, DE, CB, OL

2nd) highest rated among WR, DE, CB, OL

2nd) highest rated among WR, DE, CB, OL

3rd) highest rated among WR, DE, CB, OL

Probably as good as we can hope for at this point. And would certainly make us better (yeah, I know, not hard to do).

Not horrible, although I'd rather wait and try for Weeden at 37 (unless it's crystal clear that he'll be gone by then). Pick up a DE or LB at 22.

Ur right, but the elusive QB premium will kick in on draft day. See also, Ponder, Christian.

Weeden and Blackmon as a package deal makes me feel better about drafting the former. Maybe it would help speed up the process on the two. Clearly they'd already have chemistry, and there'd be less of a concern there.

Point is, why waste the time of considering what shitstain we should draft to replace the shitstian we currently have?

Move on from QB. Wasting one of the picks we wouldn't give up to try to find a diamond in the rough is worse than giving up that pick.

SD:

Concur time to back up the brinks on Flynn , because nothing after pick #2 is gonna come in here and start .

Let Lindley learn behind Flynn size and talent and you use the Atlanta fourth .

because these humps will never spend the draft resources to land a franchise pick and
will have to luck into one ,

I'm in favor of moving on from QB, and trying to aquire another 1st round pick for next year somehow, this can probably be accomplished by trading either one of our 1sts.

If we get out of #4 (considering there is no elite pass rusher or QB there) we will still have 2 first this year when we do it (most likely).

Claiborne isn't a terrible selection if we are forced to stay. Would be different if salaries weren't hacked down to what they are.

Would love to be able to trade down and take a chance on Ingram rather than to reach for Coples.

Would also like Perry at 22 if if they go Blackmon (FTR I think Floyd is the better pick at WR if they have convinced themselves they need to draft one in the top 10) or Claiborne at #4 if we didn't trade down at all.

Yep, I'm tempted to say "go all-in on defense." Finish the Heckert method to it's logical end by trying to create a dominant D, with offense as afterthought. Mind you, I don't see Super Bowls ever coming with that, but you might as well play out what you started and it's better than reaching for a project QB.

Deep breath.... thread collage :

1. Trade Down if we can, for additional 2nd, prolly no takers so..( J Coz & gang)
2. I like both Claiborne or Blackmon, I now lean toward Blackmon( JB )
3. @ #22 best available WR if we took Claiborne @ #4; otherwise, best available DE/CB/OL (see Yogi)
4. @37 best available DE/CB/OL
5. 4th Lindley (SD)
6. 4th best available DE/CB/OL

Sign Flynn ( 1st choice)
Orton ( 2nd choice)

Petition to move to either AFC or NFC West.
Get Tebow for "H" back.

Top 10 WR, O-lineman they can trust somewhere, and the rest on defense. Pass on these project QB's.

Also wouldn't mind taking a shot to see if you can pry Mallett from the the Pats, provided you can use a low pick on him. If he sucks, you're right back at it next year for the FTOY and if he's talented, you're in good shape.

Should be fun to watch it play out, lots of options. Don't hate Weeden at 37, just don't want him in the first round. (I think he'll be available down there)

If you're even entertaining the idea of taking Blackmon at 4, this should be the move. Browns get a more polished receiver that may be the fastest in the league, and you take away the best deep threat of your most hated rival.

1979 San Francisco 49'rs Draft room...

"Ok we're up next at 82. What's the consensus?"

"Well we're pretty sure we like this Dwight Clark out of Clemson, but I think we can wait to get him. Nobody seems very interested in him. Why don't we take a shot at this kid from Notre Dame, Joe.....something."

"Montana?"

"Yeah, Joe Montana."

"Sounds like a porn star. What's the book on him?"

"Well, he graded fairly low and most scouts think he's frail. He's got a mediocre arm, but he's smart, seems to be able to come off the bench and fire up a team. He's about in the middle, mobility wise."

"That's not very encouraging. I think DeBerg'll do ok for us. What do you say, Coach Walsh?"

"Eh....I think the Giants got a real winner in that Simms kid. Would have liked to have gotten a shot at him. What'd you say this kid's name was?"

"Montana...Joe Montana."

"Hmph....sounds like a porn star.......ah what the hell, let's take him. Might be useful at some point, if only to run the practice squad."

Oh HELL no!!!!! LOL. He proved that with his first start, maybe even before. Just saying that sometimes what seems to be "just another warm body" can turn out to be far more....Although....that just never seems to happen here. We've gotten some decent players with low picks, but just can't seem to get THAT lucky.

You're right. We've hit on a few decent players like Rubin later in the draft and sometimes you can find a diamond in the rough but we've never been THAT lucky. And that's unfortunate because as far as I can tell it's a big part of the front office's plan.

See what I mean? This is SoulDawg being nice. Probably because I've incredibly agreed with damn near everything he's said in the last few months, save wasting a draft pick on Russell Wilson.

But if you get on his bad side he will say some of the most awful things to you...at least half of which you will understand.

Also, CDT is definitely an asshole, but he's German so I'm not sure if we can really hold it against him.
According to my sources CDT farts in the tub and bites the bubbles.

If you're even entertaining the idea of taking Blackmon at 4, this should be the move. Browns get a more polished receiver that may be the fastest in the league, and you take away the best deep threat of your most hated rival.

Still that whole "getting him the ball" problem though....

And give them the #4 pick? Hell no. Let someone else sign him and give them the 31.

There's no way to orchestrate a trade here, is there? Trade down to 15ish, use that pick to get Wallace, and get a 2nd/3rd you can use on an OL? Still have 22 for your project QB/DE, and doesn't force you to waste the 4 on a guy you dont need (Claiborne)

Or do all the moves have to made prior to the draft? Im probably talking out my arse.

Jeebus, I'd forgotten how great they all are. Seem to age fairly well too, compared to other ladies.

No, it has to be your pick.

If the Browns can land a RT in FA...I'm thinking

4 - CB M. Claiborne
22 - WR S.Hill
37 - OLB J.Brown

Add in a trade for Ben Tate to go along with the Rucker Signing and that would damn solid off season.

^^^^ OK with all that.

I am also Ok with Hasselbach...blech..whatever his name is to hold the fort down a few games before he is hurt till we find a real QB if Manning signs with Titans.

Hated to see Steinbach go, warrior, but he probably is damaged goods.

Thanks, I'll stick around. I read a lot of these boards before I signed up so I knew I had found a real fanbase here. Passionate about their teams and very willing to call management creative names, when they seem to tell you to go pound salt, we do it OUR way....and our way is the RIGHT way. As for lack of luck, here's something I found that really hits it home. It shows how creative we can be, even in the face of adversity!
