I'm heading to Chicago with the wife for a few days at the end of February so's we can sit in a room and listen to dentists talk about teeth. I haven't been there in a long time.
Looking for a few recommendations if anyone has any. I had a patient insist we try out Wildfire Steakhouse and that looks pretty good. I thought about maybe trying to see a show at Second City.
I wouldn't mind a few cool bars and maybe some live music. Not the kind where people chew glo-sticks.
Who knows Chicago? What say you Clayman?
I got this one rule. I never go out with girls who say "bitchin'".

Where are you staying and how far are you willing to go?
In the end, we're all "only for a limited time," you guys.

and I will say one thing right now, if you want steak in Chicago Wildfire would not even register on the places I would consider. Head up to Rush and State and hit up Gibson's. Tavern on Rush or Carmine's I hear are good. Harry Carey's is always a good choice in Chicago as well.

We're staying at the Marriott on Michigan and I'm willing to take a cab ride. I'll travel some distance if it's worth it. Not as far as Gary.
But I have to believe there are plenty of good places less than 15 minutes in a cab.
We're probably hitting up Bandera. We've been there before and it's the only place I remember.

A couple of restaurant recommendations:
Hot Doug's Hot Dogs
XOCO or Topolobampo for excellent Mexican
Avec - great tapas
Rosebud - only steakhouse Ive been to in Chi-Town, very very good.

FWIW: now and forever if you get a Hot Doug's tatoo you eat for free there forever.
Sure, you still have to wait in line for two hours for a hot dog, BUT IT IS FREE DAMNIT
Also, you must go to Hot Doug's Mother

Just got back. Great trip.
Thursday we hit up a nice little Chinese place called PF Changs.
Friday night, the wife wanted seafood because of lent, so we went to Red Lobster.
Saturday night we decided fuck it, threw caution to the wind, and splurged on a big fat steak at Outback Steakhouse.
All in all, it was a great Chicago experience. I'd recommend all of those places if you're ever in the area.

Shaws was great.
Lobster Bisque of course.
couldn't decide between the filet or the Crab legs...so I got both.
Creme brûlée
Then walked down to Blue Chicago and drank beer the rest of the night.

Was really hoping you'd get drunk and dangle from you rhotel window or try and swim the river.
I mean... glad you're back and that it went well. Still steamed you didn't live-tweet that lecture.

If I went to Chicago I would talk like a 20's gangster stereotype the whole time.

What makes you think I didn't do those things?
And your right, I should have live tweeted that lecture. It was a great lecture. Making retires for 3 year olds with ectodermal dysplasia. Or I could have live tweeted the presentation by the guy using CAD technology to turn fibulas into mandibles. It was gnarly shit.
