92.3 becoming a sports talk station?

And it paves the way for some kind of new morning Cleveland sports radio programming.

My proposal:

Kiley and Booms 6-10
Rizzo, Sabo and Jeff Thomas 10-12
Baskin and Phelps (and/or Les Levine..who did a decent job filling in.) 12-3
Ken Carman 3-7
Bull and Fox 7-Midnight

Baskin has actually gotten better, Carman is better as a drive out host, and I actually love Kiley and Booms as the morning show. Rizzo teaming up with Sabo and Jeff Thomas again would be very good, hell, even if Goldhammer came over, it wouldn't ruin the chemistry between that group that they had back in the day. Just make sure Sabrina is banned and all would be right with the world.

Also, call me batshit crazy, but if they're purging for talent, Fedor was actually an okay night time host. Flame away. Keep him away from Rizzo's show, as his chemistry didn't gel as well.

Cleveland talk radio has become the mirror image of the Cleveland sports print media. Maybe switch them and see what you get. Would love to hear Livingston, Pluto, and Shaw attempt to answer questions at the moment rather than rely on purusing the internet for other peoples opinions. It may also be interesting to see how Rizzo spells "Weeeeeeeee"

Ken Carman is not good. He just rambles and babbles and I have no freakin' clue what he's talking about. Some of his takes are awful. Keep him where he is, because I don't listen the radio from 5-sleep time.

Baskin and Phelps are kind of milquetoast, but they don't annoy me.

I like Adam the Bull, maybe it's that he's not from Cleveland and hasn't yet lost his common sense. I agree with many of his takes. Dustin Fox doesn't add much of anything to that show, but he doesn't annoy me either.

I could give a shit about Rizzo, but he's listenable in small doses, which Kiley & Booms certainly are NOT.

Kent had a concert up in the MACC with Wale opening for Mike Posner (..kind of debating if that should have been the other way around, but eh.), and when he went on stage the whole crowd went nuts.

I think he's Gen Y's version of Michael Stanley around here. There, I said it. It's not a comparison of talent, because at this point I'm not sure how to judge him on that. But, he's got local cred.

I'm sure there's no love lost between him and KNR since they put his first hour on the walkey talkey powered KNR2 so we can have an extra hour of Goldhammer. They haven't been asked to guest host his show since.

Looks like he'll be replacing Baskin and Phelps. I don't know which is worse. B&P are meh, and Rome's schtick was old ten years ago.

Meanwhile Fox8 gave Rizzo his own show on Sunday nights. He brags that it's unscripted yet in the commercial he's reading off a telestrator.

I am losing faith that Cleveland can be saved.

I'm okay with Baskin & Phelps because they talk and don't look for screams and schtick over actual conversation. When I get out of work I just hum or sing to myself. I can't fathom listening to Bull & Fox or anything Brinda is on.

I usually hum ballads and some Air Supply. Lately been humming a lot of show tunes and bluegrass. Like to mix it up.

Was driving down to CBus to attend a Jackets game.

Unrelated but before I get to the point of this post? The Jackets are an amazing experience, and I sincerely wish I lived closer to CBus to be able to attend more games.

Anyway, I turned on 97.1, their version of "The Fan". Let me say, with all the way we criticize Cleveland Sports Talk, it's nowhere near as bad as CBus talk.

First off, CBus Sports Talk actually airs Colin Cowherd on their main affiliate.

Let me repeat that. They AIR COLIN COWHERD. Not on TheFan2, but on the radio station itself.

The show I listened to was something called "Common Man and Company". The guy sounded really obnoxious and annoying.

So my condolences to CDT because my lord, that station is not good.

I had come to the conclusion recently that "Bull and Fox" wasn't really all that good, and it's something I avoid now. But compared to anything airing on 97.1 it sounds like radio gold now.
