Hear Me Out- We Can Get Howard

Unread postby andrew6586 » Fri Feb 10, 2012 11:39 am

Dwight Howard will certainly be dealt after the All-Star break and I think that the Cavs should make a move to get him. I saw we package a deal with Andy, Sessions and our first round pick this year (maybe next year's too) for Howard. The deal would only go through however if Howard signed a multi-year contract with us first though. I think that it is a good trade for both teams because both sides benefit from it immediately. The Cavs get the best center in the game and the Magic get a double-double center in return who plays good defense. They also get a pretty good point guard in Sessions who is having his best year (24 and 13 the other night I beleive). They would also get our first round pick this year which will probably be a lottery pick. They would be able to get a good young player in the top 14.

The big snag here would be if Howard would want to sign a multi-year deal here in Cleveland. We certainly have the money to spend and he have to start spending it next year anyway. However, I don't know if Howard woudl be willing to stay in Cleveland while we develop more. I think he wants to win now in a New York, Chicago or L.A.

I'd love to hear feedback on this so feel free to voice your opinion.

Haha, if he wants out of a warm weather city with no state tax because he needs more excitement, I'm thinking that moving to Solon wouldn't fire him up too much.

Bros, I'll bite....I am not as smart or critically astute as eOy, although I too come from the ICL and have a graduate degree and post doctoral education. 6586, Howard will not come to Cleveland because:
1. It's Cleveland...small market. It's not LA, NYC, or Dallas. He will make more off the court than
on the court in those cities.
2. He is not interested in enduring another rebuild.
3. Word is players don't want to come play for Gilbert no matter how fat the wallet.

We mortals that don't make 22 million a year lose sight of basics...it really isn't even about the $$$ anymore or should I say the money from their contracts. It's the business off the court.

I would donate a kidney to get Howard here.

I can't even find a comprable trade to make a smart ass why didn't the Cavs just trade LBJ for ________ and _________ this proposed offer is that fucking stupid.

My gawd, just look at what Paul just went for.

Only a Cleveland fan could thing Ramon Sessions has actual value or that Andy is a piece to build around.

AND THAT DOESN'T EVEN APPROACH THE FACT THAT DEWEY HAS LIKE THREE CITIES HE WILL SIGN AN EXTENSION WITH, INCLUDING NOT CHICAGO

I appreciate the feedback. The hardest part of this deal would be to get Howard to come here but I think that it's at least worth trying to trade for him. I guess I was just banking on hopes and dreams on if he would sign here. However, I think that the two players mentioned and two picks is fair value. If we can get a pick and a player for Mo Williams, we can get Howard two players and 2 picks.

Sessions, Andy and TWO first round picks (like I mentioned in the original post) is fair value. We are probably going to deal those two guys anyway so why not make it a paskaged deal. Andy is a double-double guy and Sessions is a smart player. With two first round picks, the Magic can do a lot. Be negative all you want but the truth remains: The Magic NEED to deal Howard and they will take a little less the closer it gets to the trade deadline.

I believe I already addressed your point about him not wanting to sign here. It's a tough sell but it's worth a shot.

Nope, I just heard about it on those new fangled inventions... what are they called/ TVs or something? Mark my words, the closer and closer it gets to the trade deadline the less and less the Magic will ask for in return.

There were three trades of legit stars (none of which are as good as Dewey) in the last year. LOOK AT THEM, GO LOOK AT THEM AND THEN LOOK AT THIS STUPID FUCKING RIDICULOUSNESS YOU ARE TYPING.

Come on, he had plenty of better offers, don't feed me that bullshit.

The freaking Clippers offer he took was twenty times better.

That was the dumbest trade I have ever seen for everyone involved and wreaked of a league owned team just rushing to get something stupid done.

The Warriors packages were all better, even without Curry and any package with Gordon was better.

Stop, stop stop.

And again, the trade pissed me off beyond reality because it was the worst example of GMing I have ever seen and it look Einstein caliber compared to andrew's offer for Howard.

While I'm a little disappointed too that Casey Kotchman was our big free agent signing, and I'd love to see Howard at 1st for the Tribe, I just don't see this happening.

Howard has 5 years and $115m left with a $10m buyout in 2017. Even if Philly wanted to get out from under his contract (I would) I don't think the Dolans would go for it. It's just too many years. Too expensive.

If we thought the Tribe has been handcuffed by Hafners contract, just wait and see what paying $25m to a 35 year old first baseman with declining power and a shit glove will do.

He'd clearly be an upgrade this year. But the tribe ALWAYS has to think long term.

I don't see it.

Pffft, still the TCL in my world.

Although while my anger is for internet amusement, that Spaighte, he's a angry one IRL.

Was yelling in the locker room to "kill" us so loud we could hear him through the air ducts before we blew em out.

Either way, at least you didn't go to Jackson Milton with Tree.

Spaighte was/is after my time...and I am pretty sure you guys really were never worried about anybody in the red/white being able to hurt anyone......well since 1981.

I "get" your rants & rage...and if you weren't right most of the time I'd goad you more. Keep those Buckeye updates coming, all my contacts left with a vest on. (wink)

I really thought this was a joke trade but he's actually sticking with it. The funny thing is, this trade actually works in the ESPN Trade Machine.

Seriously though, if you had watched Sportscenter even once in the last 6 weeks, you would realize this would never happen in a million years. Howard won't come to Cleveland and Orlando would never even listen to that offer; it's as simple as that. Anything more is wasted time/breath/typing whatever.

Normally I don't approve of eyeore's "tactics" but in this case I think they're entirely justified. Just one of the worst fan trades in the history of fan trades. So bad that, again, I couldn't tell that you were being entirely serious until the repeated defense of the trade.

Neither do I. Strikezone too big. Can he pitch?

Dwight Howard signing a long term deal in Cleveland is more far fetched than Mike Holmgren hiring a non-Bob Lamonte client.

Easy Eo, this is every other caller to Cleveland Sports radio:

Hump Host: Go ahead Caller

Hump: Hey, first time, long time - love the show. I gotta trade for you.

Hump Host: Go ahead

Hump: How bouts we package up Andy and Sessions for the best center in the game. This will give Orlando a big that can't score and an out of control point guard who is an even money favorite to break his own nose firing the ball off the underside of the rim about every drive to the hoop. A win-win for both squads.

Hump Host: Do you think Orlando.......

I really want to say you are crazy lead, but after my ten minutes listening to callers and hosts yesterday I fully get it. "The Cavs cannot trade Sessions because they need to get to the playoffs and start a winning culture!!!!"

Humphost was promising to debunk the fact that you need early draft picks to get talent in the NBA as well.

I wanted to rip my ears off. Fucking Urban Meyer, last time I do that to listen to him speak.

Why don't people just light themselves on fire for fun? It would be more productive for society than that shit.

Just glad to see a Columbiana guy didn't lean towards Pittsburgh. You guys are awfully close to the jumping off point I used to drive through it everyday on the way down to Moon Twp.

Tree have dmiles by many years. SR was my personal bitch in hoops but that was in the days before the well-heeled (meaning have a job) families moved in and classed the place up to Canfield-Lite. I went for 30 in the North Lima sweat box as a senior, one year before the three-point line went in or maybe I'd have gone for 35. By the way one of my hoops teammates is a cancer researcher in San Diego who earned his MD at Stanford, and another is a DDS who went to Tufts dental (right up your alley). I work in software engineering with a grad degree as well, so some of us did ok. (Though my MD friend I mentioned insists we've succeeded in spite of, not because of JM).

I've been away for most of my adult life outside of 1999-2004, and as an outsider now I just don't see a hill of beans difference between someone from North Lima, or North Jackson. Y-town is Y-town.

62 miles to Shittsburgh......64 miles to Cle-land. This is a border war town. Old school rolls Brown % slightly, new school goes black & gold by wider margin. It is strange here as there are also an unacceptable amount of scUM fans . Funny after the Steelers got "used" by the Broncos, the next day you couldn't find anything black & gold anywhere, like rats off a sinking ship. We fight the battle every day.....kind of like the old Missouri/Kansas Redlegs thing. :spar:

Do you know what promotes a winning culture? Good players. Not Samardo Samuels, Semih Erden and Anthony Parker.

The Cavs need to tank. The fact that this is even a controversy is insane.
