Super Bowl Prediction Thread

My pick is the Giants. It seems like everyone likes the Giants, which is usually the kiss of death. But after watching the Championship Games two weeks ago, I sat there on my couch just really believing that the Giants are the better of these two football teams. For me, it comes down to a couple things. I’m not sold on the Patriots defense. Especially against a team like the Giants, with such dynamic playmakers on offense, and a QB that plays his best games in the biggest games. Eli Manning, Ahmad Bradshaw, Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham and crew are a far cry from the Broncos and Ravens offenses that the Pats beat to get here.

Also, the key to beating the Patriots is disrupting Tom Brady and not allowing him to get comfortable, which is exactly what the G-Men did to Aaron Rodgers and the Packers two weeks ago. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a more formidable trio of defensive ends on the same team than Jason Pierre-Paul, Justin Tuck, and Osi Umeniyora.

I expect another excellent game though. And I’m always leery picking against the team that has the better coach and the better quarterback. But the key to winning in today’s NFL is being able to pass the ball and rush the passer, and I feel the Giants are better at both.

I like what i've seen out of the Patriots defense the last few weeks. They're not great, but they are good enough. (A la Saints from two years past) They'll get enough of a pass rush on New York to keep Eli from playing pitch and catch, and wont have the same special teams gaffes that handed them the win versus an average SF offense.

There's no defense for the tight ends New England throws at ya. If Brady is on his game, that offense is going to massacre New Yorks db's. They've got a fantastic pass rush, but NE counters that with the quick hitters/5 yard posts to Welkahhhhhhhhhhhh.

I'm rooting for the Giants, because I'm over the unsufferable Gilette faithful.....but I cant see New England laying an egg in this game, twice.

34-28 Giants.

Eli's been better than Brady for 6 weeks, Giants have semblance of running threat and the better defense.

Hoodie takes something away (like Cruz) but at the end of the day his defense isn't talented enough.

A four man Pass rush, better rushing defense, and better running game are supposed to equal victory in the Playoffs.

Eli's playing great and they have better offensive weapons than the Pats as a group.

I just have a real hard time wrapping my head around Eli 2, Tom Brady 0.

Everything points towards the Giants being the better team, which probably means that Patriots will win.

In the Super Bowl, experience and coaching trump overall talent. The Giants are slightly better than the Pats when it comes down to talent. This is true because the Giants D is markedly better than that of the Pats. While the Patriots offense is better than the Giants, it's only by a little bit.
Brady was a little off the last game he played and he is also looking for revenge on Eli's first defeat of him. He's gonna play great. The defense will step up. The Patriots will win. 31-24.

Brady is better than Manning but it's close enough to where Manning being hot trumps it.

I'm always effing wrong on these things so you're probably right on the money but I just can't see it.

The New York Giants' all-time playoff record against fellow "New"s is 1-0. A slight edge over the New England Patriots' all-time playoff record against fellow "New"s, which is 2-2.

So which is more likely? 2-0 & 2-3 or 1-1 & 3-2? 2-0 & 2-3 looks a little more right to me.

Giants in a close one.

Every year, the list of teams I dislike enough to upchuck 50 times on Super Bowl Sunday grows. Pittspuke, the Ratbirds, Belichick’s spoiled Patriots, the two New Yawk teams because of their asshole fans, and “America’s Team.”

Plus, I’m just so friggin’ jealous of ANY team to make it this far.

At this writing, the Pats are -3 faves. So I go with the underdog. Giants 37-31 in OT.
