He needs to be in shape and play with the same motor as Big Ty and show some, any, sort of first step.

Right now the Philly Messiah looks like he took an average two gap nose tackle 22nd overall.

I'm a little surprised by the disappointment in Taylor. Better conditioning and more consistent effort would both be nice, but he certainly showed flashes (kind of like Warren in year 1), and who knows where he goes from here. I'm not too down on above (IMO) average 2-gap DT in Year 1.

I agree- He's on Kiper's map (as if that's the end-all/be-all). His place is no different IMO than Dareus slipping a similar ten spots. And if Helu and Dalton are in Round 1 territory, someone other than Heyward is missing?

Wondering who else from RD1 is nowhere to be found. I have insider access but not here from work so I'll see it later I guess.

Not only was he big, fat, and invisible, but he could probably be replaced by any one of 10,000 random fat people that you might find in a suburban McDonald's.

He's probably the worst 1st round pick that anyone made last year. Maybe the worst 1st round pick ever. He was so bad that I don't see how he wasn't directly responsible for Colt McCoy's failings as well. That's just how bad he was.

Hey, when I see Da Troof in black & white, I just gotta say "True Dat!"

Phat Phil had only 59 tackles last year, good enough for only 4th in the NFL for a DT. 4th! For a first round pick! Fuckin' shameful.

And 4 sacks. That's only 14th for a DT! Sheee-it, I could roll out of bed, drop about three tabs of acid, cut my toes off, and do better than that.

He's a complete fuckin' waste, as big (and I mean BIG) a disaster as you'll ever see at the 21st spot, and if you can't see that, YOU CAN'T HANDLE DA TROOF!

Taylor was up and down, but that's common for big young DT's. To me, with these 320+ DT's, SO much of it is attitude, conditioning, and playing at the right weight for them. Shaun Rogers is the perfect example. When motivated and in shape, he's a terror. We saw both sides of him here.

I think a lot of these young DT's see a couple of the slobs like Casey Hampton that can pull it off and think that it's OK to totally let themselves go and eat like pigs and not condition hard.

To me, Taylor showed some real promise this year. While he doesn't have as much pure pedigree and raw talent as Gerard Warren and Shaun Rogers, he's got a good chance to have better careers than those guys and be a rock DT for us. He's a vital part of this D and the Browns are going to be counting on him heavily to take his game to a Pro Bowl level these next few years.

Is he going to work for that or will he look to collect two checks a month for the next 6 years.

Because that's what it's going to come down to. And honestly, I think it's a coin flip. He could be Kevin Williams or Raji-lite. Or he could be Gerard Warren and hang around doing just enough to get paid.

I think this is on. Dude clearly has the size, talent, and ability. Only question is if he has the desire to work hard enough to utilize that.
