Lannan would give us a LHP for the middle of the rotation. We'd have him for two years because this was just his second year of arbitration. He's not spectacular, but he'd give us a solid change of pace with a left handed arm slot. Three years of 180+ innings. Not sure how he'd do with a move to the AL or what the cost would be to acquire him, but I think this is worth exploring.
Slowey's got another option left. Gomez/Huff/McAllister still serving as depth options.
His interleague numbers aren't great, 4-5, 78.1 IP, 4.40 ERA.
Maybe Huff can put up these numbers, but I'm not sure.

I don't think we have a match. Unless we sign Cespedes (in which case we wouldn't have any money left anyway) and Brantley becomes expendable.

No one else said a word, General, but I'd like to recognize this for the quality post it is and salute your genius and contribution.
Everyone else who ignored or who tries to recognize it now is simply an asshole.

I doubt they're looking at a price as high as Brantley. They'd be happy to take a AA prospect in exchange for the salary relief. 5M is a large chunk of change when your rotation is already pretty much set.
Keep in mind that Manny Acta is familiar with Lannan. If he liked Lannan while in DC, he can go a long way in convincing Antonetti to go after him.
Acta went to bat for Austin Kearns. We'll see if he does the same for Lannan.
Tried to Google for any quotes about Lannan from Manny Acta but couldn't find any.
