Are the Cavs seriously looking at Kaman?

And would that be a good or a bad thing? I'm assuming it'd be a sign and trade. Seems like an expensive proposition for a team rebuilding.

Kamen on the cheap isn't a bad thing.

That said, as I said elsewhere, they want to make a spash this year they sign Chandler and Gordan (max!!!) in the off-season and draft a few bigs then go.

And Kyrie - E Gordon - Chandler backcourt has effing sick upside.

Kiley & Booms embarrassed themselves last week with LBJ to Magic for Dwight and then back here from Orlando. Idiots. Talking about how great he'd be with Kyrie and refusing to address a million things including Cavs having zero talent to send anywhere for anyone other than Kyrie. Chandler is restricted, Denver has first dibs at him, and should be back in the NBA in Feb or March. We are, I believe $7.2M under the cap currently, and I think will be $26M under the cap next year before factoring in any rookies. I imagine we would have to bring him in toward the end of this year.

I would think long and hard about who to extend an offer to between Wilson Chandler and Batum.

There might not be much room, but Chandler is pretty versatile.

I think I would rather go through the draft then have a choice between the two depending on who we were able to draft. I don't think we will have that luxury though. I think we should just offer Chandler a contract, and if he doesn't take it, then possible make a run at Batum this summer.

I think I would probably offer contracts to Hibbert and Brook Lopez this summer as well. Nothing crazy, but maybe their team doesn't match for whatever reason (Howard sweepstakes).

Indy has more cap space than they know what to do with and will be making a max run at Gordon to bring him home. Hibbert is going nowhere.

Lopez on the other hand, maybe, but do you want to pay near max to a 6 rebound a game center coming off of a major foot injury.

Gordon has an injury history, but nothing recurring or anything along those lines. Bigs who already play soft (Lopez plays zero D and does zero work on the boards) with bad feet are always terrifying.

Fuck that, I don't do that if I am the Cavs or anyone else really.

I wouldn't offer the max. The offer would be dependent on what the docs think of his foot. If I do offer max, I would shoot for a short contract. He hadn't missed a game in his first three seasons, so this could just be a freak thing. If he doesn't want to take it and wants to go somewhere else, then ciao.

And yes, his rebounding was awful last year, but he averaged over 8 boards a game his first two years. Maybe a team where he doesn't go from being "The Guy" to trade-fodder for Howard will improve his effort. Maybe not. But short of drafting Drummond (slim chance), LA not picking up Bynum's option (zero chance), or Omer Asik coming here and being a stud (slim chance) - where are you going to find a center with the skills that Lopez has?

I like Gordon, but he has only played 78-62-56-2 games. The injuries might not be recurring, but I don't know if I want to offer him max to compete with Indy when you run the very real risk of not having him play for a month+ every season.

Seriously, I get paying Lopez because he is talented and big, but it wasn't just bad rebounding last year. Go to the film, the guy is allergic to contact and has been his whole career. And he's a shit defender.

I would take 60 games of Godon over 82 of Lopez without even thinking twice. I would draft fifteen bigs and find a defensive guy in two seconds at center before bringing in Lopez because he can score while having to deal with the rest of his shit game (and he played with D-Will for part of last year and his tude didn't change).

Lopez is fucking terrible to be honest when you look at his all around game and the fact that he is a giant vagina. If Blatche weren't in the league he might be my least favorite big.

If you want offense in the front court offensive fours are a dime a dozen these days, focus on scoring there and defending from the five.

Hell I'd probably pay McGee before I'd pay Lopez.

Either way, Gordon has legit A caliber star talent and combined with Kyrie gives you the best young-back court in the league in terms of age + ceiling. Signing a Robin Fucking Lopez gives you a bitch that will lose minutes to Andy (quickly).

I'm with you on getting a big if you can and Hibbert would be great (but really, it's impossible), but I'm not wasting a dime on that sack of shit. I dare you to go back to game film from the last two days and argue otherwise.

Asik is actually a good call, not gonna lie. I want a center that does the small things first and foremost.

Building a roster the old fashioned way takes backseat to making a portion of your team truly elite, which is what Kyrie and Gordon could be (a better all-around Monta and Curry!!!)

Fuck, Kwame Brown was having a very good year pre injury....

and it doesn't matter, Gordon won't go to Cleveland unless they offer significantly more than Indy, Hibbert isn't moving, Robin Lopez can eat a dick, Batum won't be leaving Portland....

Chandler is probably the only realistic target because the Nuggets are too deep and he'll be kinda-expensive.

And Asik, who if they trade Andy makes a shit ton of sense.

A third team would definitely have to be involved for Kyrie to get you Harden. The Thunder don't need a pg. I love Harden's game, reminds me a lot of Roy in how smooth he is, but its not worth it. (As a side note, MKG has that really smooth game too, and I would love to get him. My wish list is pretty much MKG or T-Rob after Davis/Drummond.)

There are a few decent looking SGs in this year's draft, so I would rather take one of the them (Beal, Lamb, Rivers, Ross) than give up the farm for the best beard in the league other than BD's (although he might have surpassed him this year).

Was just gonna say the same thing. He's the type of guy I'd definitely take a chance on if he becomes available; low-risk, possibly very high reward and at a position that the Cavs are in dire need of a talent injection. He was taken #3 overall for a reason and even though he's obviously been disappointing, I don't think he's Bassy Telfair 2.0 AKA a lost cause.

I just don't understand why a team with Teague and no real SF depth would deal an average but their only legit SF for Sessions.

I also don't understand why the Cavs would lock themselves into a league average to slightly above average SF.
