The Manning era is over. Not sure how many more moves need to be made for folks to figure that out.
He'll be released and they'll be rebuilding in full as of the April draft.
The only thing funnier than people not seeing that is believing that Manning would want anything to do with playing here like I heard two idiot morning guys talk about today.
Dude's one of the GOAT's but he's also a product of being a technically skilled tactician who played >50% of his games inside where his lack of imagination and creativity were overridden by that technical greatness.

Yeah... if you want to break down my 10 or 12 paragraphs into a couple sentences... sure.![]()
He does whine or blame others. Which doesn't necessarily mean he's wrong about who fucked up... it's just a reason why he won one title despite his mind and his gifts.
And it's not going to fly in another org when most guys know they'll be outlasting him wherever he plays.
All of Manning's adjustments and 'art' is before the snap. After that he's a very good thrower of the football technically but he's not a creator in any way.

Makes me wonder why there isn't an ensuing power play to stay in Indy, with said "weapons" than try to re-learn elsewhere. That being said.....offense next year will be very different than anything he's had to do in the last 10 years.

Which is why twiiter is the greatest entertainment vehicle ever created and also why it's incomprehensible to me that people don't participate or use it.
It's criminal to be a sports fan and/or fan of pretty much anything or seeking to keep up with current events, hard news, etc and not utilize what amounts to the most user-friendly/user-specific instant news feed ever created.
And yeah, that was a passive-aggressive diatribe intended to shame fools like Hiko, JB and LeadPipe into getting with the times.

There are some funny mofos here. And you forget the handy "ignore" feature this site has - I recently put jibmeyers on it, and it's working like a charm.
FB blows too. It has its uses from time to time, but I only go on there if someone directly messages me.
Twitter to me is the social media equivalent of the laser disc, destined to be obsolete a few years from now. I'll wait for DVD's.

There was a report the Indianapolis Colts are at least considering disgraced former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel as head coach, who is on the Indianapolis staff as a gameday consultant. I checked with a Colts source and he said this: "No way in hell."
But this is the interesting part. The source explained that owner Jim Irsay likes Tressel and does want him to have some sort of role in the organization (a new head coach will have some say in that of course). Which is, well, incredible. If you remember Tressel resigned as Ohio State coach after it was determined the Buckeyes had numerous rules violations under his watch. Ohio State later self-vacated its entire 2010 season.
It would be totally out of the question for the Colts to make Tressel a head coach now. The Colts would be the laughingstock of the NFL.
But it's possible the Colts may keep Tressel in some capacity. Possible, not definite.

peeker643 wrote:I'm saying Manning is an engineer and not an artist. He relies on what may be the best mind to ever play the spot and on putting people in precise places regardless of how the defense reacts.
Inside, in a dome, is the ideal setting for him. And if/when plays break down he's not adept at ad-libbing his way out of them. His brother is; Peyton is not. Not saying that makes one better or worse than the other. Saying it makes them different and teams have to account for the differences. That means the Mannings own team and the teams playing against them.
It took years for Peyton to get the right pieces/parts to accompany him and to win his title and it takes everyone playing at a really high level. He's not getting that situation again. Not in Indy and not anywhere else, even if he goes to a dome team. There's not enough time for an organization to build that kind of expertise and technical skill with the time remaining in Manning's career and he's not athletic enough/patient enough/adaptive enough to do it another way.
