In order of likelihood, based on the lost love for Colt:
#1 Seneca Wallace
#2 1st round pick, who wins the job in camp/preseason over Colt
#3 Free agent (Don't rule out another retread, Hasselbeck anyone?)
#4 Colt McCoy
Kid had a fairly monstrous year. Removing Wallace's worst year (this one) he's got the career numbers that suggest if he had started the year this year, team would have been 6-10 or 7-9. (especially if they were not using practice squad rb's)
6-10 or 7-9 next year signals progress, and gives them another chance to upgrade the QB position in the draft. If the guys THEY want aren't available, they'll punt, possibly trade down, sacrifice another season, and try again next year.
I don't agree with it; I tend to be in the group with Mother and Ey and SD that says, THIS year you have multiple bullets in the gun, and you need to use them to bring in the guy that you can develop along with the offense. Next year you may not have them. (unless they trade down and get extra picks next year, which would be telling)
All that aside, I'm still giving Heckert the benefit of the doubt with the draft UNTIL he hoses it up. If he's not sold on RG3 (or at least not sold enough to give up the extra picks) then I'm going to pretend that he knows what he's doing. This team, bereft of much talent, hung in there this year and gave me some hope for the future. If they pass on the QB this year, as long as they HIT on the rest of the top picks, im content with another mediocre year next year because our QB is backup-level. The Browns are not a one year fix, especially with Murmur at the helm, and I just want to keep seeing them work in a positive direction.
My kingdom for a quality draft, FA depth, and more creative offensive playcalling.
