Uhm, he's a junior and most schools in the country were offering him.

You don't drag your feet on kids like that, period. Especially considering all of the outside factors.

Just like you don't let Bollman decide Decker doesn't make a good OT prospect.

Fickel's staff had plenty of recruiting issues.

E0 he committed before his Junior season, before his junior year of High School.

Thats extremely early by any standards. Is it a miss? Yah, but dont act like it was Dodson or Decker because its not in the same catagory of miscalculation.

He camped at OSU, was openly begging them to offer and told them he wanted to committ and that scUM had offered.

He committed going into his junior year, same time Marshall and Burrows had offers.

It was a fuck-up.

Period.

One Meyer wouldn't have made.

Doubt it, probably ends up on D as is.

That said with Meyer who knows. Still think they have a great shot at getting him with Dunn, but missing on him at the EOD would be a damn shame. Kid was throwing himself at OSU and it just blows my mind he was just now offered.

Maybe it was the RB thing, we had Dunn and Ball and eyes directed squarley at Green for 2013.

Has to be a reason they didn't offer if the kid camped here. Again, this is not a Jim Bollman evaluation special.

I thought he camped there, I may be wrong, whatever. Either way he was begging to come and has always been looked at as an RB or Safety.

I just think he fell through the cracks with the ridiculous turmoil the program was caught up in.

"If you asked me what is the biggest head scratcher in Ohio recruiting right now I would say the lack of an Ohio State offer to Marlington athlete Dymonte Thomas. He has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Tennessee and as far away as UCLA but he does not have a Buckeye offer. I cannot explain it. Some try to defend the lack of an offer because the Buckeyes have a stable full of running backs. By the time Dymonte Thomas would arrive on campus two of the current stable will be gone. Two more will be seniors when he is a true freshman. Besides, as great a back as Thomas is, make no mistake he is a great back, he may be a better safety. If you held a gun to my head and said choose a position I would say safety. He is a relentless kid with great speed and instincts. He is a great tackler and ferocious competitor. He has an ideal safety frame at 6-2 and about 190. I don't care how good any school is at safety or running back. Dymonte Thomas improves your depth chart at either position"

His offer list speaks to, uhm, WTF was OSU doing.

Yah, I mean it looks effed up from here. If I had to guess I'd say he wanted to be a RB, and they have Hall,Hyde,Smith,Dunn and Ball and wanted Green. Good as Thomas appears, Green is the better back.

That's alot of RB's. I dont recall the buckeyes having 6 Rb's on scholly much.

Nothing else makes sense.

And we don't have Green yet, if Meyer can grab Isaac I wouldn't be shocked to see him take him over Green.

Watched Thomas play in person over a handful of times. It is tough because the level of competition Marlington plays is pathetic but kid can ball. Man among boys. Every time I saw him my takeaway he was a helluva more ready for college than his two teammates (OT Mich St. bound and RB Hill Tennessee bound). And he's still a junior.

That said, I think he's a safety and I'd say a notch above a Tyler Everett type at the very least. Any time you have that speed and size though and seem to enjoy contact like that on defense you have the makings for something special, IMO.

OSU completely missed the boat in that regard.

The "recruitment" of Dymonte Thomas was an absolute disaster. One of the worst that I can think of. He is a great player, at what position, I don't know, but he is a kid that will make a difference on the field.

Thomas could even put on 20is pounds and play OLB.

Anyone watching Ohio Football Recruiting knows that there are a few guys in OH in 2013 that should be MUST GETS, Marshall and Thomas are #1 and #2 respectively.

Yeah, I just sort of through that out there. Lots of folks have Burrows as the best player in OH next year, Rivals even lists him as a 5* CB. He is probably a better player than Thomas, and if he does infact end up staying at CB at 6'1 200lbs, that would be impressive.

OSU looks to be in great position for 2013 on lots of great prospects; Marshall, Burrows, Jaylon Smith, Derrick Green, Jake Butt, Lovell Peterson, Evan Lisle, Billy Price and Eli Woodard. They don't have a lot of scholarships to offer in 2013 (as of yet, we shall what the attrition is like) but they are better than 50:50 on all of those guys. I think the Buckeyes ultimately flip Thomas too.

Oh yeah, forgot about Kimbrough and McCray too. If they get those 11-12 + a few national kids that would be a ridiculous class. With Meyer, I think it is likely.

He is already working hard on Robert Foster. Foster looks like about as a good a WR as I have seen commit to tOSU in 5-10 years. In the past, tOSU has typically landed either Brian Brennan types (Dane S.) or James Jett types (Tedd Ginn). I can't really remember the last uber talented tOSU WR recruit that came to college ready to dominate. I like Devin Smith alot; great hands, speed and size. We'll just have to see what they can do with him in a competent offense, but he was never a top HS recruit like Foster.

At 6-foot-5, 200-pounds, Dukes has the physical size Notre Dame coaches love from the wide receiver position. Besides his size, Dukes showed surprising speed during his six-catch, 173-yard two-touchdown performance.

Reminder that the Army All-American Game is on today at 1 p.m. on NBC.

It's a chance to see OSU commits Adolphus Washington and Tommy Schutt, as well as prospects Kyle Dodson, Joel Caleb and others. Plus top national recruits like Dorial Green-Beckam, Gunner Kiel, etc.

Also three of Michigan's best commits: Kyle Kalis, Ondre Pipkins and James Ross.

For scUM:
-Kalis looked pretty good at guard. Did a nice job there.
-Pipkins looked very good as well.
-Magnuson (sp?) looked like a guard as well. Outmatched on the outside, bad feet.

For tOSU:
-Washington looked great, absolutely abused Magnuson (sp?), scUM tackle, to the point where they moved him in. Banner did better against Wash, but he was still excellent.

-Schutt played a nice game, looked stout on the inside, didn't make a lot of plays, but held his ground. I think he is a candidate for a RS next year just based on tOSU depth at DT (Hankins, Simon, Goebel, Hale and Farris).

-Spence (played in the UA game) looked all world. 3 sacks, 2FF, a new category I am going to call a forced int (hit the QB as he threw the ball), something like 8 tackles total. He was double teamed and held after the first couple of series. He is probably already tOSU's best weakside DE. I say he makes a difference next year.

All together, I liked last year's haul (Miller and Hayes) but I love this year DEs. I expect to see tOSU go to a more traditional 4-3 in the future (no more LEO, I hope) and with that, I expect to see Spence and Washington both on the field at the same time. I also expect tOSU to get away from the Giant DE/DT hybrids they have been play on the strong side. I think we see the Bucks put 265 Washington (20lbs of growth over the next year or 2) at SSDE and 265 Spence on the weakside.

I really wanted to see Dodson on the outside against some elite talent. I am worried that both he and Diamond could end up at guard ultimately. Dodson played for Cleveland Heights, so it is not like he saw powerhouse DE's every week, I really wanted to see if he could hold his own on the outside with guys like Washington.

Magnuson went to my kids elementary school in Cardiff-by-the-Sea (Encinitas). He was a grade ahead, and I only ever saw him in Little League and didn't realize he was a big recruit until I saw he'd signed with scUM after we moved to Florida. I probably have his LL picture around here somewhere. I used to refer to him as "the oaf" because he was this big lumbering kid, must have been at least 6'0" maybe more, as a 12 year old. We ended going the private school route and I had no idea he'd developed into a football player, I just wasn't paying attention to La Costa Canyon football that much the other kid who came out there was Kenny Stills the year before. When I saw Magnuson signed with Michigan I was highly disappointed but it is what it is. I had a good friend in SD who was pissed at me because I wasn't "happy for Tater Tot" when he signed with Michigan, but fuck it, once that happens I am not hoping for the best.

I was watching the UnderArmour commits the other night and that last kid from New Orleans chose Bama over LSU and his momma was farkin' pissed and didn't hold it back. Refreshing to say the least.

The real beyotch if you've ever tried it JB is to park right near the cardiff inlet just past the Cardiff Kook, and start walking the beach and climbing each set of stairs (or jogging it for the really initiated). I used to get to about Swami's and that was it my heart was ready to exlode (fat-boy). However my company relocated to Fla, and I went with them, so I am gone. I really miss that area, but I knew for a year and couldn't get anything going out there job-wise.

I am sure this will bite me in the ass as Cox becomes a 3 time AA en route to one of the great football careers ever.... but I really don't care if the Bucks get D. Cox. Granted tOSU needs safeties, but there aren't alot spots open this year and I would rather see us land linemen, LBs and athletes.

FWIW, Dalton Santos looked amazing in his AA HS game, so I will be a bigger man here and say, that he is no Storm Klein. He is a guy that I would love to see them land.

They've offered about 15 CBs and WRs from the south in the last week, so who knows.

Appears Cox got bumped for the new offers.

15 is an exageration, but offers are going out en mass.
