So after losing Radio 92.3 to more mindless sports talk, we now lost V107.3 so it can go back to being snooze jazz. I'm not sure how MMS can make money running non-stop frat boy talk from daytime to evening, NCX has somehow finally bored me to tears, and I'm left with hitting the college station roulette or hoping I can pick up WONE out of Akron. The occasional Nickelback is tolerable if I can keep getting The Black Keys and Sixx A.M. Hell, maybe I should just sack up and pay for Spotify.

I try to listen to 97.5 and 98.5, but they play the same 12 song loop over and over again. Sonofabitch in 50 years of rock they can only find 12 goddamn songs worth playing? Only one song per band?

97.5 is the only station that doesn't have a version of assholes in the morning (and afternoon).

92.3 is listenable, although they get on one topic and stay there all damn day. Maybe if they figure out there's more to sports than the Browns, it'll be alright. Still better than anything 850 spews out there. Plenty of network choices, to get a view from outside CLE. 1350, 770, 1000 on a clear night.

College kid who's loved what he's seen out of Sirius/XM but cannot afford it.

Some of it is downright terrible. About the only real salvageable show on WMMS is Alan Cox's show w/Zumock.

Rover. is. terrible. He's Howard Stern if you removed any sort of remote sense of humor from him, and just left it with really lame attention whoring hot talk topics (HEY! WE'RE TALKING ABOUT SEX! LOOK HOW CRAZY WE ARE!)

92.3 is mainly worth listening to for the callers and Ken Carman.

Rock 107 sucks. Their playlist is as follows: Disturbed/Three Days Grace/Load era Metallica/Foo Fighters/Black Sabbath. Repeat for the next 24 hours. May I just say this? Disturbed is possibly the worst rock band in the history of forever.

Once radio became a 2 company fight, the days of any formats remotely close to the old 'MMS were booted straight out the door. Hell, formats that had more than a 30 song playlist were shown the door. I guess it's the evolution. First FM moved music over from the AM side, more recently the purged talk radio over from the AM.


It's really a shame that music has become a premium service. Gone are the days of trading cassettes w/ some metal head n the west coast through the ads in the back of Hit Parader and Circus Magazine. However my love of music has forced me over to the Sirius/Spotify end of the spectrum.


Only during my lunch will I listen to 92.3 to get an idea of what's going on. Once I'm on the road, Sirius kicks in.

I had some bad experiences with satelite radio from a coworker who refuses to listen to anything local or musical, and only listens to out of town-I couldn't give a shit less ball game radio broadcasts and 24hours of Bob and Tom reruns.

One morning I had it in my hand and he grabbed it before I could get the window down and throw it out on the freeway. At least I don't have to work with him anymore.

I don't even own an ipod. So many selections, most available online which is the best part. They have apps for smartphones as well. Zero reason to listen to garbage.

That's the point. I just can't consistently to listen to shitty radio regardless of whether it's Cleveland-centric.

I'd rather listen to something that's entertaining and have multiple options and no commercials (on the music side) than here a couple puds drone on about Colt McCoy and the lack of big money free agent signings from the Indians 24/7/365.

I personally just can't and won't do it. I'm not in a car all day either, though. But when I am I'm still not listening to local stuff.

listen to wmms briefly on my drive to Kent and for the oddest reason they were playing "Synchronicity II" by The Police.

I say that is odd namely because, for all my years on earth, that station has always been about playing hard rock and nu metal, mainly the latter.

With what Spin said, he is indeed correct. You don't get the random dj who picks out the music anymore, no, it's kind of pre-approved by the higher ups and then played.

It's a dead medium in my eyes.
