All Browns Team - Post Return

Unread postby Hikohadon » Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:51 am

I'm sure this will be tons of fun, just to see how ugly it's been. Feels like I've done this before, but oh well...

QB - Kelly Holcomb (this might be the worst)
RB - Jamal Lewis (for one freaking year)
WR - Kevin Johnson, Braylon Edwards
TE - KW2 (EDIT)
FB - Lawrence Vickers
LT - Joe Thomas
RT - Ryan Tucker
C - Alex Mack
G - Eric Steinbach, Floyd Womack (EDIT)
DT - Ahtyba Rubin, Orpheus Roye
DE - Robaire Smith, Jabaal Sheard (that's how bad it's been)
LB - Jamir Miller, D'Qwell Jackson, Andra Davis (god, this is hideous)
CB - Anthony Henry, Joe Haden (EDIT)
S - TJ Ward (EDIT), Sean Jones
K - Phil Dawson
P - Reggie Hodges
KR - Josh Cribbs
PR - Dennis Northcutt
LS - Ryan Pontbriand
Coach - Butch Davis
GM - Tom Heckert
Owner - Al Lerner

And this team wins... 10 games? Max?

I would put Haden at Corner ahead of Henry and Cutch. Other than that, it comes down to stretches of games to find a spark.

Courtney Brown for 1 or 2 games
Fat Warren of a series or 2
Couch for the Titans comeback game and the Hail Mary against the Saints
William Green against the Falcons

Good Lord this is depressing

BTW, do we include Head Coaches and GMs?

LOL - it gets even uglier.
I don't need to be patient, they're going to be shit forever.

I'd say that Haden should be in at one of the Corner spots, and I have no idea why you would have Heiden in over K2....longevity?

K2 had almost double the yards and more TD's in 3 seasons than Heiden had in 8 seasons.

Yeah. There's really no good reason. KW2 was better for the few years he was healthy.

I considered Haden strongly in place of McCutcheon.

What would your lists be?

Unfortunatley there just really inst much to debate. You pretty much nailed it on the first go...not going to debate the fiercely disputed Zastadil vs Hodges discussion, lol.

Browns football baby, whoo hoo.

QB - Kelly Holcomb (this might be the worst)
RB - Jamal Lewis (for one freaking year)
WR - Kevin Johnson, Braylon Edwards
TE - K2
FB - Lawrence Vickers
LT - Joe Thomas
RT - Ryan Tucker
C - Alex Mack
G - Eric Steinbach, Ross Verba
DT - Ahtyba Rubin, Orpheus Roye
DE - Wimbley?, Jabaal Sheard (that's how bad it's been)
LB - Jamir Miller, D'Qwell Jackson, Andra Davis (god, this is hideous)
CB - Anthony Henry, Joe Haden
S - Robert Griffith, Sean Jones
K - Phil Dawson
P - Reggie Hodges
KR - Josh Cribbs

Did Verba ever actually play guard here? My hazy memory has him at OG the same way Sheldon Brown's been at FS since he's been here (and often Anthony Henry before him)--as fan-favored position switches, no?

And I remember Robert Griffith being pretty bad. Could Ward's one good year last year be enough to put him ahead? And maybe Mike Adams should take one of the safety spots as a kind of lifetime achievement award.

Shaun Rodgers at DT?

My RB pick: Ben Gay

Only one I really disagree with is Punter , I think you got to give that to Chris Gardocki for 5 years he was pretty solid, and in 1999, and 2000 he led the league in Punts, and Punt yards ( granted that is large in part to a horrid offense... but still credit where credit is due) He also had that consecutive punts without a block NFL record streak.

I think an "all-worst" team would be much more fun. Oh, lordy, the names we could list! (But where to start? Spurgeon Wynn?)

I'll be honest with you... I was scanning the old rosters, and there were just so many names that you looked at and said "Damn, I forgot that guy even existed, man he sucked". Hardly anyone stood out.

I wanted to put Ward in there, but with him and Haden and Thomas and Steinbach and Mack and D'Qwell and Rubin and Sheard suddenly I'm claiming that this 4 win team is loaded with some of the best players over the last 13 years.

True, it's not saying much to call them the "best"...

Rogers... he had one really good season, was inconsistent the others. Roye was good for a long period of time, Rubin too. Rogers one season was better than the other DT's, but I'm giving an award for lifetime achievement.

DT was one of the few positions where I could even worried about that debate.

For an All-Worst Team, I think you'd have to have some minimum number of starts (16ish, maybe), or else it would just be a mess.

As opposed to the mess it would be with 16 starts as the qualifier?

I'd say starts. "Holy shit, _____ really started a whole season's worth of games for us?!?!?!" <--Sounds to me like a good standard of suck.

OK...but now I just started looking, and that makes things pretty tough. Frye's my easy choice at QB, but none of Kirby, Prentice, or Jackson quite made it to 16 starts.

So how about a minimum of 10 starts?

QB: Charlie Frye
RB: Travis Prentice
TE: Darnell Sanders, maybe? (Neither Dudley nor Sellers made it to 10 starts, growl)
WR: Brian Robiskie, Darrin Chiaverini
OL: Pretty much everyone from 99-06 except Tucker & Faine

DE: Several guys I don't remember, a few guys (like Tyrone Rogers) who were at least decent pass rushers, and a whole lot of mediocrity. So ???
DT: Shaun Smith, Corey Williams
OLB: Rahim Abdullah, Chaun Thompson
ILB: Wali Rainer, Ben Taylor
CB: Brandon McDonald & ???
S: Marquis Smith, Percy Ellsworth maybe?

Oh, and:

HC: Mangini
GM: Kokinis
Owner: Randy
Q: What is the best/craziest location you've ever gotten lucky A: Mens room. Death Valley. (Fire Marshall Bill, 08/13/10)

You can't skip the OL. That is definitely the best part by far.

Zahursky, Rehberg, Chenoine must have their brush with immortality.

And at DT, Jurko and Stalin Colinet would like a word. ( & thought Ben Taylor played 4 - 3 OLB ? )

I disagree.

If Charlie Frye only ever played the 1st quarter of the 1st game of 2007, I'd have had to make an exception and include him anyway.

Ironically, we've yet to have what I would consider to be a bad center. Spending 2 number 1s and big FA money (Wolly, not LeStaph) on that position like morons may be one reason, though.

Oben at least redeemed himself by playing competently for TB during their SB run.

I actually thought Stokes filled in well in the playoff season, and Oben was OK and a starter for TB as Hoo Doo recalls. Gonzo? I'm wichu. Craptastic. Pyne was awful, too.

Who was that RG from the skins who could never stay healthy? Tre something?

Irony is we gave away Shaun O'Hara via pink slip. In the years he anchored a very good NYG line we spent 1sts on Faine & Mack , backed up the Brinks truck for LeLawSuit, band aided with Space Ace, and spent a 3rd on Fowler.

Of all the Browns stupid new guy wasting old guy's little talent that was there, this was the most Brownsiest. Patton comes in second.

Also, putting Bryant in there is insanity.

If the criteria is 16 starts in a season then Courtney gets a spot for his rookie season when he had peeps believing he'd be a star

IIRC he started 23 straight games at the beginning of his Browns career till he broke

Look up Darrin Chiaverini on Wikipedia for a good laugh. *SPOILER* They give the guy 6+ paragraphs, but a grand total of one sentence for his NFL career. And fittingly, that one measley sentence is about a god damn record the sonofabitch set. Jesus H. Christ....

That was one of the most un-remarkable pieces of shit I've ever seen in my life.
A)Uploaders name- dchev11; tell me he didn't make that himself.
B)Take my everyday life highlights from last week---much more impressive IMO
C)It's never good when your highlight film's highlights consist of one big gain, about three first downs, and 25 seconds devoted to a chat with Tim Couch on the fuckin lumber.
