Picking out negatives for the Browns is easier than finding insects in Florida. But did anything positive come out of the 2011 season?

1. The team never gave up, played hard to the end. Despite Shurmur's multiple flaws, you have to at least say he didn't lose the team.

2. Jabaal Sheard looks to be real solid.

3. Greg Little may not be a #1 WR, but he'll be a playmaker in the future, esp if they do get a true #1.

4. Og was a good find as a 3rd down/change of pace guy.

5. DQ came back strong.

6. We learned that Colt McCoy is not the answer. That's good b/c we don't have to waste another year "figuring it out".

7. The Defense overall was much improved.

8. Rubin appears to be top shelf.

9. Joe Thomas was back to his great self.

10. Seems Heckert had another good draft.

11. A lot of young players got a lot of experience. Whether those players are starters or future backups, that's never a bad thing.

And that's about it.

Was impressed with Chris Gocong over the last 5 games (which makes me wonder where the fuck he was for the first ten or so).

Seneca Wallace is a solid, NFL-caliber backup QB

Phil Dawson is Ring of Honor- good. Cemented his status as not only the very best player since they returned but also the very best kicker in team history.

Josh Cribbs proved once again he's just a very, very good football player who completely understands and expresses what we as fans often feel.

You ever see how kickers spend their time in practice? None of them should ever miss a kick. They have time to be proficient at their jobs and learn ball-spinning and cocking around skills. They're also easily and always the best euchre and card players because they have nothing else to do.

In all seriousness, Dawson is an artist. He's gotten stronger or at least maintained his strength while his technique has become nearly perfect. What that man does is truly amazing. Especially if you were there for the Buffalo game a few years back and this past Sunday's game in 40mph swirling winds.

He is the very best cold weather/bad weather kicker in this teams's history and maybe in football history.

If I hit a golf ball squarely with perfect technique and swing I'm hitting it consistently farther than you are even if you're bigger and stronger.

But right now, I'll agree that Phil has been amazing over the past few years, while also holding to my belief that what Groza did was more impressive, relative to the time and position.

I love Dawson and it is rare to feel more confident about longer attempts as your kicker ages. One thing is for certain this franchise as it stands since the return didn't deserve to have a Dawson.

Last kicker we had when Dawson was hurt that we subsequently cut was last years' pro bowl PK ahead of Awesome Phil from Dawsonville. Shoulda kept him and let Dramason go.

While gotribe was a bit over the top with his 70% analysis, Sweet Lou was definitely among the tops in relation to his peers at the time. While Phil has only been in the top 5 twice for season FG %, Lou the Toe was in the top 5 in 14 seasons including 5 time leading the league. You cannot compare their actual percentage as it is a different era, and kickers are getting better and better due to practice and technique.

Shittsburg's playoff hopes took a big hit with loss of Mendenhall and now the rapist is limping around again. I know it's just sour grapes, but if we can't be in the playoffs, at least we sent them in banged up.

Sheard is off to a great start against the inbred. Seemed like he had the rapist on the run on every play. Lookin forward to seeing him improve into a dominant pass rusher that teams will have to plan for.

This was more my point, and apologize for being off on the #'s as I didn't actually look them up, just going from memory.

Of course if you lined them both up, Dawson would put Groza to shame. But in the context of their respective eras, Groza was extremely impressive, especially when you consider the fact that he played tackle as well. Not to go all Mitt Romney flag football on everyone, but I played TE and kicked in college, and sometimes I missed some pretty easy FG's in practice because I was exhausted and beat up from my real work with the offense. So can't believe Groza was able to play NFL football at an all-pro level at both OT and PK.

That being said, the Buffalo game was one of the most impressive displays of kicking ever, including Vinateri in the playoffs.
