IF the Rangers sign Fielder, doesn't that make Young expendable again? Guy can play all 4 IF positions, hits RH, and hit .338 last year (OPS = 124). He makes 16 Mil for the next two years. If the Rangers eat 6Mil per year of that salary wouldn't the Tribe be a great fit?

Kinsler, Beltre, Fielder and Andrews would block him... just saying.

I'd probably take a nice package of guys to get him, but it would seem he'd be available.

As much as I would love to get Young. I don't see it happening. He's still a good player and a fan favorite down there. The guy lead the league in hits last year, and batted .338. The Rangers will find a spot for him. Do the ol' Wedgie platoon with the entire infield.

We'd have to give something to get something if it did somehow happened.

Safe to say that almost every team in the league would be saying the same about Michael Young. I highly doubt we could pull anything off.

Fielder all depends on Darvish. If they sign him to the coin he wants, I think Fielder is too expensive, especially if they are looking to extend Hamilton.

That said, there are a lot of teams that would be calling Texas for Young. It would be a nice little bidding war, but I don't see them dealing him, not without an overwhelming offer.

16 Mil is a lot of money for a bench player. And if they get Fielder thats 25 Mil + whatever they're gonna have to pay Yu Darvish (prolly at least 15 Mil.) Current 2012 payroll is north of 110 Mil. Add Fielder and Yu and you're looking at 150 Mil plus. Last year they were at 92 Mil. No way they could jump into the 150 Mil territory, and that doesn't even include the 50 Mil they paid for the Darvish rights.

They're gonna have to dump salary. Especially if they want to lock up Hamilton, Adrews, etc. Young is the logical choice to go.

Also, they probably won't want any large contracts in return. A package of young prospects would be cheaper and better for them.

I doubt the Indians get him, but they should at least be asking. Obviously this all depends on Fielder signing with them.

They won't sign both Darvish and Fielder. One or the other, most likely.

The only way to even out the balance of not being able to give up the players they want is to take on the full contract It would be our only shot to actually keep us in Texa's mind when /if they decide to trade him.
