My wife took me to see this nonsense.

Take 50 percent People Magazine, 25 percent lifetime movie and 25 percent ABC family holiday special mix it all together ,find someone who has a free 20 minutes to write a plot, mix in some really crappy Bon Jovi music and shazam! Worst movie ever.

It's a real shame what Bobbie D will do for money.

At least movie theater popcorn is delicious. I'm almost willing to waste $18 on tickets (not for this turd of a movie) just to go in and spend $6 for popcorn.

I am so lucky to be married to my wife.

Two movies over the Christmas weekend:

Her choice: Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Gotta say, it was a hell of a lot of fun; the best in that series. Tom Cruise may be a closeted L. Ron Hubbard loving loon, but he was great here...although the supporting cast of Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and especially Paula Patton(drool) really made the movie.

My choice: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. My wife really got into the mystery, having not read the book nor seen the Swedish version. I really liked it...but I'm not quite willing to say it was better than the Noomi Rapace film...gotta think about it for awhile yet.

"New Years Eve"? I wouldn't watch that at gunpoint.

Give it time. Luckily, Clarissa and I have developed an understanding when it comes to movies that I KNOW she'll hate...although I'll still try to get her to watch certain DVDs that I think she MIGHT enjoy.

Worked really well for when she finally saw "Star Trek". Not so good for "Inception".

"Black Swan" impressed her with Natalie's performance, but she hated the weirdness.

Basically, it's called 'picking your battles'. That, and remembering to NOT bring up the fact that you think "Willy Wonka" is the worst film of the 20th century in front of her in mixed company. :spanky:

I'm an extreme cynic when comes to US movies. it's wall to wall unoriginal garbage and shitty remakes and sequels. I will end up seeing Fincher's remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, but I will still wonder why a damn remake was even needed when then Swedish films were fine to begin with.

Can't wait for the Hangover 3........

Hmmm...not sure that I totally disagree with you. It really is just a coincidence that I stopped doing reviews in what I consider as the worst year of movies in the last decade (I'm not kidding here...my decision to step down is 100% related to real life placing higher demands on me at this time).

However, as bad as things are now, there are still glimpses of hope out there.

It's a cool movie, but it's more of a early 20's frat boy meathead movie. Kinda like 300 with better dialogue.

But I also thought Inception and Juno were incredibly overrated.....JMHO and all that jazz.

I think our movie scene is pretty much devoid of anything original or interesting.

$34.2 Million US & Canada. Over 62 million worldwide. I blame the people that pay the money more than I blame Hollywood. IMO the problem is the production companies. They want movies that make the most cash. Meanwhile there's scripts out there that don't get off the ground because 9/10 meathead Americans will go see Spider-Man 7 before thinkin bout seeing a movie with some substance and originality.

And lucky for them Americans are dumb enough to spend their hard earned money on total shit because it has gun fights and giant robots.

^^^^^ Nearly cinematic blasphemy! Christian Bale: 310 to Yuma, American Psycho, 2 previous Batmans. Christopher Nolan: Memento, Inception, 2 previous Batmans. These guys' works speak for themselves + they're aiming to make this the best one after Ledger's legendary Joker performance! This is the definition of what a Summer Blockbuster is supposed to be. Don't call me out either for dogging Spidey earlier.... those flicks SUCK compared to Chris Nolan's Batman series.

Got to get out and see "Drive". One of the few movies that came out this year that made me miss my old routine of seeing at least one film a week at the theater.

Hell of a year for Ryan Gosling with that and "Ides of March" (which I also want to see).

Heard great things about Albert Brooks as the bad-ass heavy of Drive. Oscar worthy has been what almost everyone has said.

Yeah, not much of a Bale fan.

3:10 to Yuma worked because Russell Crowe stole every scene working against Bale's blandness.

He actually was pretty decent in "The Fighter"...but other than that? The Prestige? Public Enemies? Terminator Salvation? gag. vomit.

And while Nolan is a pretty good director, Memento was the most overrated piece of shit since "Being John Malkovich".

Memento is one of the greatest screenplays ever. Bale is underrated in my book; he just hasn't had the opportunities that less capable actors have been given. Haven't been to the theater once in 2011.... and Drive seems like the real must-see with Ides and Moneyball coming in 2nd and 3rd.

I liked it. I thought it was poignant and honest. Joe Gordon-Leavitt has become a pretty good actor. Seth Rogen wasn't as annoying as he could have been and Anna Kendrick is a quietly solid actress.

Probably what made it a good movie is that it's based on the real life struggle of one of the script's writers Will Reiser. It added depth to the movie that couldn't have been there if it was just somebody's screenplay.

A couple movies people should check out.

Ironclad- Set during the reign of King John, follows are small group of rebels led by a Templar Knight trying to hold a castle against the king and his Danish Mercenaries and make the king honor Magna Carta. Stars James Purefoy (Mark Antony in Rome), Paul Giamati, Brian Cox, Jason Flemyng, and Kate Mara. It's a super violent action/drama, it does fall victim to some clicheness, but it's a fun movie and the cast is total tits.

Valhalla Rising- This movie is not for everyone, it's very artsy fartsy and some will call it pretentious. It's about a one eyed Viking warrior escaping from captivity in the Scottish Highlands where he was forced to fight other men by a local chieftain, he and a boy slave meet a group of Crusaders heading for the Holy Land. They end up lost in a mysterious new land hunted by unseen enemies. It's a surreal movie, like a bad acid trip with many dream like sequences and you really don't know what's real and what's not. Mads Mikkelsen plays the lead and is fantastic. It's one of those movies that once again makes me embarrassed about the vapid shit our scene pumps out.

Malick can be a douche, but at least he escaped the Hollywood structure and tried something as intense as Tree of Life is.

Yeah, I feel the same way, although I think it actually might get an Oscar nod.

Watched it on a very small screen while flying over to Scotland, so I might need to see it again with a larger screen and a sound system that doesn't suck.

Got into it at times, and other times I was looking at my watch wondering when the hell this thing was going to end.

Watched this recently, and it was awesome. I think the movie was about 20 minutes in before the first spoken word.

PS - Malik blows goats.

PSS - My wife told ME she thought New Year's Eve looked like the worst movie ever made. I agreed. And that 5% rating on Rotten Tomatoes kinda backed it up.

My first wife would've wanted to see New Year's Eve, but that's reason #3000 why she's in the dumpster.
