I base my opinion on OHSAA football on their performance lately against the elite teams which has been pretty decent and the talent that it is putting into the NCAA. It is a lot. The state is putting 10-15 kids in Columbus every year, 5-8 kids, 5 or so to ND, and several kids to each of the B1G schools. There is still a ton of talent produced in the state every year.

I don't get to see OHSAA football much anymore, just on TV when the teams are playing. I watched Glenville beat one of FL's best teams last year, I following recruiting pretty damn closely and I am telling you that OH recruits get a bum shake because OH HS FB is underrated.

I am sure that there are guys in Youngstown that say.... "back in my day," seems like I meet that asshole everyday. I agree that OH does not have that one ELITE program anymore since Ignatius no longer owns the entire state, but there is still really good football in the state. The Columbus area is improving by leaps and bounds. Davidson, the Pickerington schools, Upper Arlington, Dublin Coffman.... it is no joke.

I have not seen any objective measure that says that OH HS FB or is on the downward trend. It is still the key to competing in the B1G and still cranks out the coaching blue bloods.

I agree and that is my point, recruiting does not equal dominant programs. There is still a ton of talent coming out of OH.

Youngstown is dying, no argument there. As a matter of fact, I have no idea why anyone still lives there, and while Ignatius is no longer one of the countries 2-3 best HS programs nationally, it is still pretty good. Since Ignatius took a step back, there have been a lot of schools that have really emerged.

HS ball in Columbus is getting very good, was never really a factor back in the day. HS ball in the Dayton area is on the rise and the Cincy catholic schools are excellent. Mentor is finally doing something, for a HS the size of a small college, it is about fucking time.

I agree NEO FB is probably not what it was when I was a kid, but there is still a lot of good teams even if there is no national flagship.

They sucked, despite Washington and Stanford.

Look at Glenville, they should fucking dominate year in and year out, yet they have never won a title. They should've beaten Davidson last year in the Finals but 'Ville receivers cannot hold onto Cardale Jones' perfectly thrown passes.

Seems like we are arguing about the same thing. Talent is still there in the state, I just think it is more spread out and that some of the traditional powers have regressed some. Mooney and McKinley are not as scary as they used to be, but Davidson, Arlington, Huber Heights, Coffman are all on the up.

Mooney was probably the best team in the state last year and is D3.
