I cannot find right now, but in the 70s or early 80s, there were really vivid photos in the PD showing Joe Greene grabbing the jersey of Browns' O linemen and kneeing them in the crotch. Anyone have those?

Harrison's rep at Kent is an odd one.

He has a banner up in the MACC and the university will congratulate him upon winning an award, but his on campus rep. needless to say is not a positive one.

I recall a story being told by a professor that said something to the effect of him flipping out in some sort of class and the cops having to be called in. And, a buddy of mine who works the gates at the game (A Pennsylvania born Steeler fan), said he was very rude to him and a few fans that wanted to talk to him.

Meanwhile, Cribbs on the other hand? Has articles published about him in the school paper, has donated 100K back that had been the equivelant of his scholarship, and has his number retired. He's also got merch in the campus bookstore.

Personally? I think he's a scumbag. When your wife is having to call for help and you break her cellphone, your rep. goes wayyyy down in my book. Not to mention this little ditty he did in the Super Bowl:

I would sacrafice a full days wages (not much), to watch this guy take an IQ test, and later go over the results with him. It would be enough comedy to last a lifetime. It seems like the guy can't learn, and listening to him defending his position tells me the he may not ever learn. Control your impulses dude for Christs sake!

If I assumed owenership of the Cleveland Browns tomorrow, one thing I would do is address the team before the next Steelers game and challenge them. I would tell them James Harrison leaves this field on a stretcher, and that the person who does it would be well-compensated.

There also would be a bonus for taking Rapistburger out of the game, as well as any cheap shot on Hines Ward.

Harrison is out to end careers, it's time somebody returned the favor.

As for all the other things I would do if I owned the Browns, that's too long of a post and for another day.

Harrison should of been suspended for the remainder of the refular season for the hit on Colt. That will be the only way he will learn. Heck, he still might not get it.

I'm a little confused with this take as you prominently display the result of a vicious helmet to helmet hit in which TJ Ward concussed a defenseless Jordan Shipley. defenseless player, head shot, concussion, or is your display of this picture just ironic and I'm missing the point?? I was 30 yards from the Ward hit and that was not the same type of blow as Harrison routinely seeks out.

It was soulder and forearm for the most part. If he got helmet to helmet that was incidental.

And, ftr, I don't mind vicious hitting. In fact I love it. My issue with Harrison is more the fact that he lines up for the kill shot with his head routinely (and Ward hasn't done that in the few games he's actually played since then). I don't bitch about Clark and I don't bitch about Harrison's non helmet hits. But Harrison complains about every hit he gets fined for when the evidence is clear and convincing. Harrison could have blown up McCoy with a shoulder to the chest or a forearm to the chest or whatever. Would have still been devastating. But dodn't square up the crown of your helmet and his facemask and then plead innocence.


That's bullshit.

Make your big hits. Go out of your way for them. They're impactful. But you can do so within the confines of what's allowable or not whine about the consequences when you don't.

There is no doubt that Harrison hits like that on purpose. There is also no doubt that it is illegal. An purposely conducted illegal act is by very definition "cheating" or "dirty".

The reason for the dirty play is to knock the opposing player the fuck out (and probably to serve some violence-related need). It isn't so different from walking up behind a QB after the play, picking him up, and slamming him on his head. Both violent, unnecessary, illegal acts committed on purpose with the intention of inflicting harm.

When you play this way, you don't pretend like what you're doing is OK do try and get out of the punishment. You know perfectly well what you're doing is not OK (at least, not within the confines of league rules). If you insist on doing it anyway, at least be man enough to take your punishment quietly.

As Peek said, I am not condemning these men for doing these things. I'd much rather have our team be the mean bullies than the kids that go crying to the teacher. Just don't act like YOU'RE the oppressed one.
