I bet a couple buddies last year that the Cavs wouldn't win 30 games. They had to wash my car because of their silliness. Now you think they can win 30 in LESS games than they played last year?

I would put the betting line at 17½. If they play the same as last year, it translates to 15 wins. Most would say they are better. 18 wins is significantly better than last year.

Considering their uptick last year after trading for Baron I'd say 22 seems reasonable.

This year I decided to be cautiously optimistic, as opposed to last years delusional optimism.

I'll guess around 17-18, but i'm hoping it's closer to 10. No value to wins this year, let the kids have the keys and go play.

Not that it really matters. This offseason is devoted to every player of remotely measurable worth trying to go to LA (Clips/Lakers) or Boston, NY, Miami.

Going to be at least 2 years of consistently decent drafting and decision making to make this team even remotely worth watching.

Know it's been said ad naseum, but i've never been less enthusiastic about a Cleveland sports team kicking its season off. Thank god for college hoops.

i think they will be a much improved team this year and yet still not win as many games (19) as they did all last season.

how is that possible???

well, for one thing they're only going to play 66 games this year thanx to the lockout. so even if they were to win 16 (.242 win percentage) or 17 (.258) or 18 (.272) games, they will statistically (19-63 = .232) be an improved team, even with less victories. all i know is that they certainly won't be losing 26 games in a row at no point during the shorter season.

that being said, i will predict an 18-48 record which will still put them in the bottom 3 (arguably top 3) records for the draft lottery. we can only hope. go cavs!!!

appreciate the optimism. honestly, nothing would make me happier than to see the cavs win 24 or more games. i was just being realistic and predicting with my head and not my heart. there's nothing wrong with being passionate about your team. i just had to be a little more temperate in my prediction and not let my emotions overwhelm my analysis. i still have to stick with my original prediction of 18 wins though. now if i'm wrong and they get 24 or more, am i gonna be upset??? oh hell no!!! :-)

13 - they'll have major issues. Especially as the injuries mount. No training camp for a young team = disaster. See Cleveland Browns for a reference.

I would say 16 at this point but I just don't know what to make of all these games in such a short amount of time. I think the Cavs may be able to squeak a couple of flukes on account of our guys playing hard and the opponent napping.

That said, when you look at rosters and pure talent, I'm not sure the Cavs are much better than the Ricky Davis and Smush Parker year.

Once they trade Andy things will get even worse.

Turns out, with the schedule and all, that someone pounding bad team overs likely would've done VERY well. Even bottom dwellers were gonna run into some teams at the right time - far more of these oppotunities than usual.

Yep, the schedule is a huge contributor in the Cavs success here. Some nights vet squads just put her in first gear and coast.

Fourth quarters have been brutal all year too, tons of the time teams just don't have any legs left. Kyrie being as young as he is and not playing last year seems to have kept him fresh, whereas you can watch old guys completely fall apart in the fourth on my any night.
